| Update on Toby and new pup So Toby has Legg Perthes, diagnosed on Tuesday. The vet has put on him on painkillers. He said that while surgery is likely, sometimes the bone can act as if it is broken, and begin to remodel itself. He is responding well to the painkillers, and is using the leg more, so he is willing to give him time for this. He will also be on Cosequin (glucosamine) supplements, and hydrotherapy. I am also trying Reiki on him. I initially thought it was immediate surgery, and the pup was due at the same time, so was going to have to pass on getting the pup. However, because surgery will probably be weeks or possibly months down the line, I think the pup might be a good thing to go ahead with. Toby is having to stay at home when I am at work to restrict his activity, so the pup would be good company for him. Just have to let the breeder know now. It has been such a stressful few days.
