waking up at night Hi yorkie lovers, Our Zoe is 6 months old and sleeps in her crate in our room, but she usually wakes up around 3:30 - 4:00am whining wanting to go out to urinate. We have a pad in her crate so we don't have to get up to bring her out, sometimes she uses it,and even then she keeps whining. This is getting very tiring. We try to ignore it so she'll stop and sometimes she does, but not always. Also my husband gets up for work at 5am,so he brings her out then and then she gets in bed with me until I get up at 5:45am. I'm thinking about stopping her from coming into bed w/ me..I think she's waking up so early so she thinks she can come in the bed. Help, any ideas? Thanks, Puppyeyes

She might be getting cold or maybe she is hungry and you could give her a treat. I always sleep with mine, so if they whine it has to be something other than being cold or just wanting some company.

We have a male Morkie. He is a little over a year old. He goes in his crate at night between 9-10PM and normally starts whining between 3-5AM. We take him out to potty, but then he doesn't want to be back in his crate. We just started letting him lay in bed when he wakes up early, but now of course, he gets up even earlier because he wants to be with us. Mistake on our part that we are now trying to correct. What time is she eating her last meal? Our's seems to be more restless at night when he has had a late supper.

| Yorkies should not be taught to potty in the crates even on a pad ,they do not like to potty where they sleep . Does she have access to water all night?Perhaps picking up the water dish ... I empty water bowls at 730 pm and only put an ice cube in the dish ,so they can have a little bit but not enough to fill their bladders . also have a good 20 minute playtime before bed to help ensure a good night sleep

I agree. There should not be a pee pad in the crate with her. It might be that she does know that when she comes out, she gets to lay with you so she whines earlier. Take her out to potty, give her a treat and put her back in the crate (or have hubby do it) and don't deviate from this. She will eventually learn. And also what danyellm said. Maybe picking up the water dish around 7:30 the night before will ensure that she doesn't have to urinate so early in the morning.
