| Pocket Yorkie Well yesterday I was outside doing some yard work when this lady came walking down the street with her yorkie. Well I had to go see him but the 1st thing I did was tell her that I also have a yorkie so she doesn't think I'm some weirdo. Well I tell her oh he is beautiful and she sees Ivy at my fence and then tells me he is a pocket yorkie. That is when I thought of all of you on YT and what you would do, I almost told her that their is no "pocket yorkie" but I just smiled and told her again how cute he was. But I do have to say that I almost said "well I have a red yorkie" but I didn't then I would have had to tell her my red is not a good yorkie either. Only YT members would understand.YT has educated me well, maybe to well. Thanks for letting rant!

| here'e the real definition of a "pocket Pet" From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Pocket pet is a term used to refer to any small mammal commonly kept as a household pet. The six general criteria which qualify an animal to be considered a pocket pet are: 1) its commonality as a domestic housepet, 2) no potential danger to humans or other animals, 3) non-exotic, 4) overall ease of care & feeding, 5)amicable disposition making it suitable as a "companion" pet, and 6) relatively small stature. The most common pocket pets include rodents such as: hamsters, gerbils, fancy mice, fancy rats, and guinea pigs. It also includes common, non-exotic animals such as sugar gliders; which have been bred as domestic housepets in the U.S. for the last 15 years. According to a recent 2007 study conducted by the American Veterinary Medicine Association (AVMA), it is estimated that American families own 6.2 million rabbits, 1.2 million hamsters, 1.1 million Sugar Gliders and just over one million Guinea Pigs. Humm I certainly did not see a Yorkie referred to as a Pocket Pet as defined! Maybe the woman really wanted a hamster, mouse, or fancy rat

| This story reminds me of a lady who lives near me who got a yorkie puppy around the same time I got Twinkle....her puppy had lots of silver on her head from very young, and the lady told me that she was a 'rare silver teacup yorkie' I just smiled and said she was adorable (which she was), and when she asked me 'what type' of yorkie Twinkle was, I said she was 'a standard yorkie' (although of course now she's much more than that!) I see the lady walking her yorkie quite often, and her 'silver teacup' is now the standard yorkie colours and much bigger than Twinkle. Her yorkie is beautiful but I often wonder how much she paid for her because she was so 'rare' xxx xxx
