| Dressing up your Yorkie What do you think about people who always like to do this. Is it a good or bad thing. |

| Well, everyone has their own opinions.. it's up to you! Although I don't get why anyone would say it's a "bad" thing. No harm comes from it. lol Personally, I LOVE dressing up Roxie! And she loves it just as much :P She only started out with a couple of clothing items but now she has a huge wardrobe. She gets a lot of attention when we go on walks, that's for sure. |

| I think it's super cute dressing them up in little dresses and outfits for pictures or if the weather calls for a sweater or clothing since it's cold outside. But if it's really hot I don't see a need to put them in clothing because it will just cause them to be more hot. I don't really have clothing for my yorkie, I do plan on getting her a couple dresses, maybe a matching one for my daughter and dog so I can do family pictures. I just want her to be a dog not a "toy". I don't have a problem with people dressing them up, hey it's your dog and your money, I just have other things I could be spending on then dog clothing. I understand both sides, I know some people find it very offensive. My mom isn't big on dressing dogs up and she has a yorkie, she thinks that you should let them be a "dog" and that they don't need to be dressed up like kids. I see the point and I do agree some what but like I mentioned, if it's cold outside my yorkie is always wearing her sweater and she will be having a couple cute summer dresses but mostly for pictures and weather permitting! I do find it necessary to do their hair though! |

| I think it's cute and all but I do think some people take it overboard. I know it's not doing any harm but, I don't know. Sometimes it gets a bit ridiculous. I, personally, don't put clothes on Jackson but the main reasons are because he will not let me lol, expenses for clothes, and he's a big boy at 13 pounds so it's difficult. I do however love getting him new collars and tags to make him look cute and putting bandanas on him occasionally! But it's not really a question of good or bad, it's all opinion.

| I don't think it is a bad thing but there are some who may get a little silly. I have a lot of shirts for mine because it does get chilly and we keep our house a little cool. I have a lot of jackets and coats for them as well. Maggie has a couple of dresses but if it is hot out, I tend not to put anything on them.

| I do believe it is the majority not the minority on this forum that put clothes on their Yorkies. (some of the best dressed Yorkies are right here!! ) I do know that when it is cooler, Yorkies are very prone to get cold quickly (we use sweaters and coats in the winter). They also get HOT quickly. They have no undercoat to protect them.

| I think its cute. They def need sweaters and coats in the winter. Although I'm thinking about getting her some booties for next winter. I save the frilly dresses for holidays though but I put clothes on Fancy when we go somewhere. Someone said the other day, "she just has the prettiest clothes". (that person sees Fancy 5 x's a week This will be Fancy's first summer and it gets hot & humid in Oklahoma so I doubt I will be putting anything on her other than a beautiful bow in her hair! You can see in my avatar, Fancy has on a dress!

| I think dressing a yorkie is personal preference, not a good or bad thing. I personally dress Couver in sweaters and jackets when its cold, or a t-shirt when it's chilly. But now that the weather is nicer, the only thing he wears is a bow! I think it's cute, but I don't go overboard. It's not his favorite thing to do so I try to limit when he has to wear clothes.

YT 1000 Club Member | I think it's a personal choice. I have lots of stuff for Kiki..but she only like the little t-shirts and when I put something on her that SHE does NOT like...she will hide or lay down and not move...quite funny...guess she's a girl who knows what she likes! LOL

| To each his own. Personally, Conner has a tee shirt on every day until the weather warms up here in CT. In the summer, he wears a tee shirt to bed because of the a/c, but does not wear anything during the day, as it is usually very warm. For the colder months, he has Fido Fleece, hoodies and sweaters.

| If they are not hurting the dog, then it's their business what they put on their pets. I do think dogs of any size get cold, and should have a coat, jacket or sweater, and if the asphalt is hot or icy, then get some boots on those paws.

| The only one out of 6 dogs that has clothes is Tootsie, and thats because she is so tiny, that I thought she would look cute in them. She really doesn't like them and would rather be naked. Once in awhile I put something on her, but, not as much as i thought I would, as she seems happier naked. Plus, they mess up her hair and she gets knots from them. Lastnight hubby and i were in walmart, I was looking at some cute little tops/dresses in there. Hubby said NOPE, not with my hard earned money, you want to be buying that stuff, get a JOB! I kind of quit looking real fast after that LOL Last edited by phfgkl; 04-19-2009 at 09:20 AM. |

Ben does not like anything with legs. He will stand completely still like he cannot move in them, no matter how soft the material. So, I take that as a "no" from him and don't try to put anything with legs on him. But I know he appreciated a hoodie when it was cold, and when he was a puppy before his long coat grew in he wore GoFetch pjs. I have ordered him a little baseball shirt to match my son's baseball team just for fun. Hopefully he will like it. He also has some nice harness vests that look like clothes. I have a Jack Russell who just sulks when you put anything on her. So, I take that as a "no" from her too. I don't force them. But I have read some of the Yorkies here love their clothes as much as the owners do.

| In the cool spring/ fall/ winter Layla always has clothes on- inside and out- and pj's at night- because it is cold here. In the summer- she is a naked girl So i guess we just put clothes on for a necessity, however, the clothes she wears- are TOO cute so style and function |
