| It's all about Oliver! It's been 2 weeks since I brought Oliver home.. what a ride it's been. Unfortunately, he is scared of men.. and my dad lives here.. so that's been a task. We had a breakthrough on that yesterday - he took a treat from my dad's hand, so hopefully that's a start! He is my little shadow... He doesn't like it when I leave him, so obviously he's loving the fact that I am on vacation this week, lol. He has some puppy behaviors, which I thought I'd get away from with him being a year old - haha... yeah right. Lesson learned there! We are working on "no bite" and "leave it" at the moment... the dog will grab anyyyyyything, he doesn't care what it is, it's all fair game to him. He love love loooooves other dogs, even the big ones, which is good as friends I stay with a lot have a puggle and a husky. He sleeps in a large crate, and after last night I'd say it's a good idea... had him up on the bed and he went to lay down and totally misread where the bed ended and just fell right off the edge, lol.. good thing he's a big yorkie, he was fine. He doesn't let me sleep past 7:30am, he freaks out until I let him out.. I miss my sleep! lol I really wanted to get him to obedience classes, but I worry that his insane love for other dogs will keep him from learning anything. On our walks if he sees another dog he goes nuts and just whines and cries to go see it. I live on a busy street and really need to get him to learn the come here command, as he already got out once and of course, darted right into the street! My heart stopped! I sometimes forget it's only been 2 weeks, and because he is a rescue I think it will take him longer to get comfy here... it feels like he's been part of me forever, but I know for him it still must be a little scary. He hates his harness, I think because his foster mom had it on him all day long while they waited for me to get there, and now he thinks it means he's going to a new home again. Makes me sad that he doesn't get excited about walks because of it, but we'll get him there. I'm posting some pics... I lost a ton when I inserted a new media card into my blackberry.. ugh.. was not happy. Enjoy!

| Awww! He's sooo handsome!!! I'm glad he's doing so well. It says a lot about your father's compassion, if he's taking treats from him already. Such a great story!!! Unfortunately, without training from his previous owner you may have to deal with puppy issues, but the good news is he won't have the sharp pointy puppy teeth to deal with. Can you call any obedience trainers in your area to ask if Oliver will be able to be in a class if he only wants to play with other dogs? I would think they can. It may work out best for you with one on one training instead. Or maybe train yourself to train him correctly. I recently purchased a book that someone on here recommended to another poster. It's called, "Let the Dog Decide" by Dale Stavroff. It's very impressive and may help you teach yourself how to train him without having to go to a trainer. Plus, will cost less. I'm so glad he's with you!!! Congratulations!!!

YT 1000 Club Member | He's very sweet! You know with all that love you give him, he'll be fine. I'm sure he's not used to being treated so well. Just like us humans, when someone has treated us badly for awhile we expect it from everyone and it takes us time to trust and believe that all will be ok. Good luck with him and I can tell how much you love him!!
