| Can you believe the cheek???!! I took my two dogs on a walk I just discovered near my home recently...its ideal for my Pixie..quite remote and I can let her off for a free run without having to worry about meeting too many other dogs. On our way back I see a woman walking towards us with two large dogs, so straight away I call Pixie to me by shaking her box of treats, making her sit while I clip her leash back on, and then rewarding her with one of the treats..seems to be working well for us...My son is putting our Staffy back on his leash in the meantime..he is very trustworthy and obedient but to avoid any confrontations I always put him on his leash when other dogs are approaching. We then continue to walk with this woman coming closer with her two dogs and I see that she is not going to put her dogs on their leashes so I pick Pixie up..I take NO chances with her being so little...Pixie being the feisty little thing that she is, has a yap at the dogs when she sees them..one of them then proceeds to jump up at me to get to Pixie so I ask the woman to call her dog off me...her response was:- "well she shouldn't be 'woofing' then"! I immediatley turned round and said, PARDON!? she then said.."oh, my dog thought yours was being hurt" (probably because Pixie's bark is rather high pitched) I was astounded! its ok for her dog to jump all over me to get to Pixie but my Pixie is not allowed to BARK!? I always seem to meet these people! ok...moan overwith...I feel better now! lol

| Walking in the UK!!!! Hi, I read with interest your story - it happens here to in Manchester! People with attitude and ignorence. vI take my dogs out 2 x 2 always on the lead till we get to the small green, nobody usally goes to this green, but lately new people who have moved into the area over the last year, have found it! As soon as i see people, or people with dogs,i always call mine to put them on the lead. Firstly, some people have even been know to 'SNATCH' small Pedigree dogs, secondly, if they have a dog, im not takin any chances, and if there dog is off the lead, i always shout politely to them, 'can you put your dog on the lead please' - usually they do. I also carry a Shelagley (IRISH stick of wood!), if i get one of those Staffordshire cross Pit Bulls coming anywhere near me i would use it! Touch wood that hasnet happend, but im more alert than ever now. Wish i lived near the mountains!!!!! |

earlier on we had met another lady with a larger dog, and from a distance she saw us putting our dogs on their leashes, so she did the same, and we passed each other with a pleasant 'Hello' and no trouble at all...why oh why can't everyone be like this?
