| Dognappers demand $5,000 ransom for Yorkshire Terrier Longueuil police are asking veterinarians and pet-store owners to be wary of people who could be peddling a stolen Yorkshire Terrier, after an armed robbery last Thursday morning about 7 a.m. A group of four men, who are white and in their early 20s, knocked on the door of a house on Université St. in the St. Hubert borough. Holding sharp objects and beer bottles, they demanded money and made off with some electronic equipment, the dog and the cellular phones of both residents of the house. They called the house the following day and demanded a $5,000 ransom for the safe return of the dog. They told the owners to call their cellular phones once they had the money. Police say anyone who believes they have spotted the dog should call 911. The Gazette March 23, 2009 Poor them. Imagine having to watch these terrible person taking the dog with them. Hope they got the dog back. |

| I can't imagine how terrifying that must be. Then to have your beloved Yorkie held hostage! Hope those cell phones had GPS and they track them down fast! This makes me afraid to offer my puppies for sale when the time comes. I know I will be using only a cell phone and return people's call before letting them know where I am.

| Can't the police trace them by using the GPS in the cell phones? This story doesn't seem quite right to me. If it is true, how horrible!

| I'd bet this story is a hoax. Police could trace their cell phones in a heartbeat and arrest them. Plus, unless the thiefs are idiots, they wouldn't be calling on stolen cell phones to demand money. |
