| CONGRATULATIONS, YT! Fundraiser Nets $400 for MISSOURI PUPPY MILL YORKIES! Hey, Yorkie Talk -- You are nothing short of amazing! You have opened your hearts and your wallets and contributed close to $400 to the Humane Society of Missouri, for the care and rehab of the 90+ Yorkies rescued from a Mo. puppy mill on February 13. Yesterday, 3/20, was the final day of the fundraiser. For those who are new to YT, some history: following the announcement of that 2/13 puppy mill raid (you can find lots written about it on this site), I decided to use copies of my new book as a fundraiser for the dogs. (HOW THE YORKIE RESCUED SANTA) I pledged all revenue above my costs to the Humane Society. I figured that a realistic goal was $300, but obviously I underestimated! I still don't have an exact figure--must factor out fees for shipping & handling as well as Mo sales tax. And I must factor IN the extraordinary gestures such as the YTer who bought 3 books but wrote a check for $60 asking that the difference be allocated to the Humane Society! He was not the only one to do something like this. [I also had some local help, including a woman in a St. Louis writing class where I gave a presentation this week. When she found out about my campaign, she got busy among her dog-loving friends and presented me with an order for 14 books!! ] This has been the best experience I could have imagined. I've loved communicating w/ all of you, and hearing about your own Yorkies. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for your generosity, not to mention your trust in this unknown YTer to convey your $$ to the Humane Society of Missouri. Sometime during the next couple of weeks, Oliver and I will visit HSMO headquarters to make a formal presentation of your gift. I've arranged for a photographer to be present, and will post the pix here for all to enjoy. (May need some help with that; as you learned, I'm a low-tech operation!!) But they WILL land on the website sooner or later. Oh, and one more thing: you can't know how much I appreciated your kind remarks about the book! YorkieTalkers, you are The Best!!!! All good wishes,
