| Check collar bells regularly!... I just had a scare! Pixie wears a collar around the house with a pretty little bell attached that I bought on ebay a few weeks back...she's a tiny little thing so its good to know where she is, as she tends to get underfoot alot. Well...I just found HALF the bell case lying on the floor! I panicked and immediatley checked her collar to see if the other half was still attached...luckily it was...but the little bell that was inside the case was nowhere to be seen! fearing she'd swallowed it I scanned the floors again...and thankfully found it! PHEW! So...just a word of warning...check those bells! I will be buying a normal hard wearing cat bell now...the one I had bought from Ebay was made up of little flowers joined together to make the casing....obviously it wasn't strong enough...I'm wondering if she had managed to chew it somehow and thats how it broke in half...she's only little...i'd hate to think what could have happened if she had choked on it or ingested it...

Luv my 7 Furkids Donating Member | great post...my three little ones have bells for the same reason so I can know where they are at all times, including during the night. I check their bells ever bath. I have a drawer full of them so replace if they even look worn at all. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Yes the ones on ebay may be cute but not as safe as the cat bells... bella always had the cat ones from petsmart and I never had a problem..Good info though.

| I had a similar incident with my little guy. I started putting a collar with a bell on him so that we can hear him when he walks around. These little guys are so quiet when they get under your feet, so the bell was working out well for the first little while. Anyways, the ONE time that I forgot to take off his collar at night, he started banging around his crate and crying. I checked to see what was wrong and he had gotten his tooth stuck between the slits in the bell I tried to pull it out but he freaked out and wouldn't let me near it. I called the emergancy vet and as I was explaining the situation to her, he had managed to get his tooth out of the bell by himself. The little ball was still inside the bell, but I still wondered if the bell had more than one ball in there? I was in such panick mode that I didn't even think of cutting his collar off (which is what I should've done right away!). The bell would've still been stuck on his tooth, but atleast there wouldn't have been any stress on his neck. The whole situation was so scary!

| Man, I'm so dense! I've been looking everywhere for a bell so I can make Curly a jingle collar but I could only find a huge bag of bells and I only wanted a couple. Um, duh, CAT bells...already made and little enough for her. I'm such a dork! |

| Wow! I've always been a little worried, but I try to keep an eye on how worn the bells/elastic look... Nikko wears bells that came on some kind of little kids' hairband. My mom got them for him for Christmas. Fairly sturdy, but still attached just by elastic hair-banding. I guess we're lucky that Nikko's not a power-chewer. But thanks for this post, it's a good reminder to pay attention. Lauren & Nikko |

| I'm so relieved she didnt swallow it! - I started reading your post and thought it was going to end with an emergency vet dash My chunky monkey Twinkle doesnt wear a bell, but this is a great cautionary tale for those that do. (((hugs)) to you and Princess Pixie Pooh xxx

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Thanks for the warning and so glad little Pixie didn't actually swallow any of the bell! I will add a warning to yours.....watch the bells with decorative pillows. Ruby's bell got snagged on pillow fringe two different times while she was laying on a pillow placed on our couch.
