| I am pissed off by this Vet! My little baby just got his Neutered surgery done last Friday. We went to a new vet near our house. When we went to pick up Sparky Friday afternnon, he didn't mention anything about after surgery care . I noticed that Sparky likes licking his wound all the time after we came back home. Then I called this vet and asked him if he has a cone. He said yes, then we drove there again and bought a cone from him and put it on Sparky's neck. Saturday morning, I noticed that Sparky still can reach his wound area and lick it, and the wound was becoming red. I took him to this vet again, he checked and said everything was fine, meanwhile, he recommeded us to buy a cream from him to put on around Sparky's wound area. We did so as soon as we went back home, but Sunday morning, I realize that Sparky's wound was becoming worse. We drove all the way to see another vet. She said that cone is for cat but not for dog, that's why Sparky still could lick his wound, and the wound is becoming a little bit infected already. Can you believe this? That vet can give me the cat cone for my dog. My poor boy- Sparky now has to wear a new cone 24/7 as the second vet told me that the wound can not become worse than it is, otherwise, it would be very serious. What an experience !!!! I'd like to get some tips from you guys for after neutered care... what should I do can make my baby boy - Sparky recover as soon as possible. |

| Is he on antibiotics or did he get an antibiotic shot when he was done? My vet sent Jo home on antibiotics and so far he's fine...his stitches come out on Thursday. I'm trying to keep him calm, which isn't easy because he likes to jump on the couch, and we've cut our evening walks down to the neighbors driveway instead of around the block. We were told to watch for swelling, redness, drainage or bleeding and that we could use a cold pack if he would tolerate it but we haven't done that...he just lays on the tile in the kitchen and I guess that's cool enough for him. He was on pain pills for the first 2 days and he'll take the antibiotics for 14 days. We use his playpen to keep him contained when we aren't home so he doesn't get into trouble. Jo came home with a cone too but we were told to use it only when we couldn't watch him, like when we leave the house or at night, but he didn't need it. Besides, he got car sick in that stupid thing on the way home and it wasn't pretty! I hope your little guy is feeling better! |

| I don't blame you a bit for being mad. I have a little girl so can't give you any after care tips. Are you changing vets now?

| That stinks about your vet!!! I write a complaint letter....but as for advice of what to do I don't know...I read a post before where others talked about putting a babies onsie on and taking if off for potty time only that way they can't get to the wound!! Good Luck, keep us posted!!

| Wishing Sparky a speedy recovery. I would take the cone back to the vet and get my money back.

| You do indeed have something to be mad about, just don't go back to that first vet ever again! Glad to hear your Sparky will fully recover though. I think just give him some tender loving care, maybe a treat or two more than usual, and he'll bounce back quickly! |

| Was the cone securely placed on your Yorkie (and test fit) prior to leaving the vet's office? I'm not saying that you don't have a right to be mad...but maybe the cone was not properly adjusted? |
