| Update on this poor baby Well, I did it. I just got back from drive for 3 hours to get McQueen. I could not stand it anymore. I told my boyfriend about him (he is out of state on business) and he demanded that I go and get him. IMMEDIATELY! When I called the person who had him, I told her that I would come and get him. (Crazy for the person that has to be up at 4:30am for work) She let me have this tiny blessing for $100! She gave me his bed, food bowls, two tiny shirts, and a coat. He is the tiniest little thing! Good natured so far. I am prepared for the vet bills or whatever it takes to take care of him. I knew the minute I walked in the door that it was meant to be. He is so little! He is skinny. Any ideas on how to properly help him gain weight would be appreciated. He is mostly skin and bones. I will be making a vet appointment in the morning to get him all taken care of. I am overwhelmed with love in my heart for this little guy. I will update everyone tomorrow and let you know how it is going. My cup truly runneth over!!!! What a blessing!

| God bless you for taking this poor little guy into your arms and heart! We will pray for the two of you that he is healthy and gains weight as fast as my skin-and-bones-babies did! I home cooked for them and they just gobbled it up together with the love I put in each bowl... Oh... he might have some worms so make sure the vet does a stool test. Maybe you can take a stool sample with you... and urine too if you can find something small enough to fit under him... |

| YAY!!! When Smokey came to us he was 7.6 lbs... now he hasn't grown at all longer or taller and he's HUGE. He now weighs 14 lbs. The reason he lost so much weight is because he couldn't be left alone without something or someone because he'd get sick. As soon as we gated him in a bathroom or crated him, he'd have diaherria. I would check for signs of anxiety, or like someone else said, worms. I would take him to the vet ASAP for a wellness checkup. To help Smokey gained weight, I gave him an extra meal of wet food a day. Someone also suggested to me, giving him puppy food since it is more fattening usually. Good luck with your new little guy!

| I had my babies on royal canin food and one was all skin and bones. I didn't know what to do to put weight on him. He was soo long and skinny and I could feel each rib and his whole spine! I changed their food to taste of the wild and free feed them. He has put on some weight finally and has filled out. Maybe you should get a good quality food and just free feed him. Let him eat as much as he wants to. He should gain weight that way. I found that it can be quality of food that keeps them skinny versus lack of food.

| Wow, if you wouldn't have gone when you did, lord knows how long he had left. You did do a wonderful thing, he will now be taken care of and loved. What a wonderful Christmas present, and I bet your son is elated also. Please let us know what the vet says, he could possibly have worms, so maybe that's why he was so thin..Good luck and God Bless you! I think if he was too thin, most likely it was the lack of food. I know people that feed old roy that actually have "fat" dogs. Last edited by phfgkl; 12-23-2008 at 06:48 AM. |

| Hello everyone! Wanted to update you on McQueen. The vet said that although he is skinny, he is in pretty good shape. Does have some extra teeth on top, and is missing a couple on the bottom (his little tongue hangs out so cute!). They said that I should be able to get him treated medically with exams, shots, teeth, neuter, and everything for around $300. So unless something strange comes up, we are on our way to being happy and healthy. Just wanted to let everyone know how much I appreciate all of the e-mails, and well wishes. I appreciate them sooo much. You have no idea. When I get back home tonight, I will take some pictures of him and post them for all to enjoy.
