No Longer a Member | Socializing with other dogs Since my roommate has moved out, my yorkie doesn't really socialize with any other animals. He is fine with ppl. Never met a person that he doesn't want to love on and give kisses, but I am worried about him being weird around other animals. I don't know if they can unlearn the socialization they get when they are younger or not so excuse me for my ignorance about that We have this event on campus called Exam Paws and it is for student pets and Vandy ppls pets to just meet and socialize during exam time. He has never been on a leash because he is a puppy and I just put him in his bag and carry him especially since it is cold and he looks so small. Anyway I was wondering would it be a good idea to take him? I have no idea what other dogs will be there or if they have had their shots or anything like that. I am sure they will be okay. He has one more round of shots to go. Any input would be great. |

| You don't say how old your baby is, but if he's had all his shots he should be find to go out. Just watch him carefully if there are bigger dogs, it only takes a second for something to happen. You probably should start getting him use to a harness and leash also. It's just a good thing for them to know. During the winter I take my gang to local pet stores and plan play dates with friends dogs. You could also join an obedience group, for the interaction if nothing else. Be creative, I bet you'll be surprised at what you can come up with to socialize with your baby.
