| Baileys Last rib under developed, or broken? Bailey took a bad fall off a sofa onto cement floor (at a hotel we were staying at) and she fell on her side. She squirmed on her side a little wimpering until i picked her up. I was soo worried when it happend she was moaning and crying and as my boyfriend and I were rushing to the car with her to take her to the hospital she all of a sudden perked up and started acting fine. We sat with her in the car for a little bit touching her on her side gently and put her down to walk and it was like she hadnt fallen at all. We took her back inside and she was acting 100% normal... So we assumed the fall just really scared her and she was okay. Well that was like 4 weeks ago and she hasnt showed any sign of pain or even discomfort shes 100% normal. However last week i was holding her and I noticed that her last rib on her rib cage seems to be poking out a little (like it was broken and re-grew the wrong way ) My boyfriend SWEARS that she has had that for a while (before she fell) and thinks her last rib just never developed fully but i dont remember ever feeling it there before maybe i just noticed it recently because i was worried when she fell and I payed extra attention to feeling all her bones and making sure she was okay but Im just wondering if anyone knows if its normal for the last rib on the rib cage to be under developed and stick outward a little. Has anyone ever heard of this? If not then what could this be? Could this be a result of her fall should I have taken her to the hospitol even though she was fine right after the fall? She has an appointment for next week to see her vet but im just wondering if anyone has any idea of what this could be.

| Hi. Sorry your baby took a bad fall. Glad she is okay. I know what you're talking about... Katie has the same thing. The bone feels just like it's sticking out or is shorter then the other ones. Katie is almost seven years old and has had this all her life. I don't know if this helps you any, but next time you see your vet, maybe you can ask about it.

| My poodle has that sticking out rib. She has always had it. The vet said she was just fine its just the way it developed. She has not had any problems or complications from it-she's 7 (I've had her since about 8wks old) |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | The last rib of a dog's skeleton is not complete. The others circle around ...the last one does not.
