No Longer a Member | What age for the first trip to the groomers? I bathe my yorkie once a week and his vet visits for his shots keep his nails in order, but I was just wondering at what age do yorkies have their first trip to the groomers? |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | It is best to start them out young so they get used to grooming at a young age. They can be any age to go to the groomer and get a bath. I actually stopped taking mine to the groomer and now do it myself. Its alot cheaper. I give him a bath with me once a week and then about once a month I groom and clean him up. |

| I'm a groomer and I recommend bringing them in around 4-6 months. After they've had their puppy shots and it's safe for them to be around other dogs. They need to brought in young so they can get used to it and the groomer can train them. Make sure you find a good one! Ask them if they attended an accredited school. You could even ask them the name of the school and research it online before making a decision. I'd be a little leary if they charge extra for every little thing that should be included in the price... like conditioner, nail trims, ear cleaning, etc. Teeth brushing is sometimes extra though. Don't go to those assembly line places unless you get a referral from someone that knows they're good. I find they rush through it too much and are less likely to do a really good job.
