| Large puppy, small adult?? Ok, I know all puppies grow at different rates! This said, Has anyone had a puppy that you thought was going to be big and actually ended up being within standard weights?? My puppies are bigger but, mom was 8lbs and dad 5lbs. I was wondering if any of the pups who are over 2, some more, (8 weeks old) could actually slow down in growing to a snails pace??? Thanks for any and all input

| They all have different growth patterns. Chachi started out real small like 1 lb when I got him. I thought he was gonna be small. Hes 71/2 lbs. There were other people on here whose dogs were a lot bigger at the same age and they are now smaller than Chachi.

| Mine was the runt of the litter and so far she still is, but I have talked to some that picked the runt and it was much bigger later or picked the biggest and it ended up being the smallest.

| Oh Karen, I wish one of your little darlings could be mine! Here's what happened to me...and it sounds very similar to what you're experiencing. The lady I got Paprika from, the Yorkies she owned were 8lbs and 5lbs. All the babies were very big when I went and picked Rika up at 6 weeks. Rika was the smallest at 2 lbs. Rika is now 11.2lbs and her brother who was 2.5 lbs at 6 weeks is 9lbs...does that help any?

This happened to me. I got two female puppies(sisters). I was hoping to get them in the 5-6 lb range when full grown. When I got them I thought they were big for puppies. One continued to grow and is about in that range. The other really hasn't grown much since I got her. I like to think it is because I am feeding her better food than she was getting as a puppy. Everything seems fine with her but at 5 months she is still only about 3 pounds, her sister is about 5. Tauni | |

| This happened to me. She was about 3 pds at 12 weeks. The vet said she would probably weigh 10 pds. She is six months old this month and she weighs about 5 pds. Go figure.

| I have both my guys going to great homes. I took a deposit on the last boy yesterday. I told her that he would probably be around his mom's size.( 8lbs) I would hate him to be so much bigger, and her to not be happy with him. I was just wondering what everyone elses experiences where.

| At 8 weeks, Stomper was at 3.2 pounds. His mother was 7 and father was 5. He is now 14 pounds! His brother (we keep in touch with the owner) is 12-13 pounds! They were the biggest in the litter and I took the biggest one since I preferred a big dog.
