| Big Dogs, Rude Owners. Hi everyone. Sorry I havent been around lately, me and Hubby had some time off work last week, and we used it to our advantage to spend some time with Bella. Me and Bella had a nasty experience today. As y'all know Bellas previous dad died, and because he was so old, Bella has been a bit short on *life experience*, ie excercise and socialising. Well, since she has been here, she has come right out of her shell, so today I took her deep into the woods solely to allow her some free time, off the lead. Some ignorant couple with 6 (yes, 6) freeking huge dogs (2 rotties, 1 dobie, 2 labs, plus terrier) literally LAUNCHED themselves at us. Admittedly they were friendly, but Bella doesnt have the skills to deal with this just yet, kwim? Lucky I had put Bella back on the lead when I saw them approaching, because she FREAKED, I swear if she had been off the lead she would have just run until her heart exploded, or she hit the road/cars etc. so scary. She seems none the worse now, several hours later, and Im sure, being the generally confident outgoing little girl that she is, the set back is only temporary. But how I wish people with Big dogs would just THINK This couple thought it was funny, and just passed it off as "how dogs are". Any advice on how you socialise a 7 year old (we found her pedigree among the old mans stuff, she is a year older than I though previously), who has missed out on this vital part of her education as a pup? |
