| Question about size? I have a question about size.......I hope that I dont get bombarded with negativity over my question lol......I think Max is a good sized dog, he is actually bigger than Peanut was .........and size didnt matter to me when I purchased him, my mom actually purchased Max's brother at the same time that I got Max and Baxter (moms dog) is bigger than Max.....anyhow, here is my question, if so many people are NOT interested in the size of the puppy......why then do so many breeders when they take pics of their new puppies pose them with things that make their size so apparent? Most people from what I have noticed Love the tiny babies ie: Paris Hilton...., but having read on here the health problems that can come with the tiny babies, it seems more would be discouraged by the tiny ones.....ok so Im babbling......the question is if size doesnt matter, why pose the babies in a teacup? Furthermore, isnt it true that just because he starts out a teaCUP doesnt mean he wont be a teaPOT when hes grown? lol Please be gentle with me, Im just curious? Thanks!

| Good Question Size does matter to a lot of people, breeders included. Most people have a preconceived notion of what they want their new puppy to look like. This is often formed by a Yorkie they have seen on TV or belonging to a friend. Since there are different sizes available they are just shopping for what they "think" they want. What they actually want may change dramatically with a little education. I haven't personally had any health problems with the smaller ones, they are definitely more delicate but not predictably unhealthy. I personally think the five to six lb range offers the most beautiful specimen, making the elegance and graceful movement evident and offering enough leg to show the coat. Many of the puppies pictured in the teacup will be larger yorkies, you can see the evidence of this when the breeder doesn't update pictures as the puppy grows. |

| Thanks for your reply, I was thinking along the same lines as you....I think Yorkies no matter the size are all precious and beautiful doggies! Thanks again!

i see this a lot on a lot of different sites... they take a picture of the puppy when it is like 5 weeks next to a can of coke or in a MUG.. say it is a teacup and do not update the pictures at all. even when the puppies get to be like 3 months old. it is so obvious they are scamming people

Donating YT 30K Club Member | For me I wanted mine to be within standard. I did not do my homework (before i found YT) and bought Cali from a byb and she told me that Cali was going to be 3 lbs which I wasn't looking for a tiny but fell in love with her, The breeder charged more for her than her 2 sisters because of her size. Cali was sick all the time when a puppy, has MVD, severe allergies etc and grew to 5.5 lbs. So any size dog can have health issues so I learned to buy from reputable breeders. I also think the only way to gurantee someone gets the size yorkie they want is to buy an adult.

Other people here said people don't update puppy pictures and that is true. I update my puppies picture AND weight chart every week exactly 7 days apart. When all you see is a 4-6 week old puppy you have no idea how big the puppy is at 10 or 12 weeks. and just for the record, I think a lot of people are very interested in the size of the puppy. As long as healthy is top priority I don't think it is wrong to look for a 4 lb yorkie or a 8 lb yorkie

| I also liked to take pictures of pup with props. When I first got her next to a can of 7up, because this helped me to remember what she looked like. A few months later she passed away. My favorite picture of her is her next to a space heater. Every time I bring it out it reminds me of her. But I do agree some people use it to show how "tiny" the pups are and never update the pic. I see many breeders now have info on the luttlq yorkies so that people are aware of the increased risk of complications which i think is great. I was lucky, my breeder made me aware of the special care a smaller yorkie needed,
