| 6 week old male humping arms I just got a male yorkie and he's 6 weeks old. Before purchasing I told the breeder that I have 2 females at home that are laid back and wanted the same type personality because of having to rehome a very dominant female that attacked my others. He is related to the 2 females I have now. The breeder said he was the most affectionate out of him and his sister and always stayed near her. Well his second day here, he's humping our arms and he peed on the carpet and when I was cleaning it up, he went again right next to me and kicked his back legs afterward. Can this behavior be stopped or am I going to have a problem here? Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

| Hope you get some answers. I never got a male yorkie yet. I guess I got the females first because they seem to be better for me. But I know alot of people that love the males and seem to think they are better. Hopefully someone will come on here and tell us what to expect. Are you going to use him for breeding?

| This is not sexual as much as a dominance thing BUT at 6 weeks ? No not that he is six weeks and acting like this - THE PERSON YOU BOUGHT FROM IS NOT A "BREEDER" this is how puppy mills do - and should not have sold this puppy at this age- it needs socialization with other puppies - this is how they learn manners

| All the Yorkies around here are being sold at 6 weeks. I do not plan on breeding him and would neuter him as soon as the vet ok'd it. |

| It is illegal in most states to sell a puppy that young it is very sad.

| The 2 females I have do not have any issues. The one I rehomed was the one who turned nasty and now she is the princess of her new home and loving it. I got the male because he was from the same family which I love the personalities of and to be the playmate for my youngest female since she misses the one rehomed. The older female does not play a lot just likes to be in your lap. |

Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | wow he is quite young...i am surprise the breeder let him go at such a young age...this is the age they they start weaning from their mothers...and the next 4 weeks would be use to socialize him... humping is a sign of dominance...dogs hump things, each other to let the others know that they are the boss... hopefully someone can help you with your problem...good luck!

Not sure what to tell you about the humping problem other than to discourage him. Say no and remove him from you. Squirt him with a spray bottle and say NO. Good luck, no one wants a pup doing this behavior to them

| Hi, My male who is three now used to hump his toys when he was around 12 weeks old, it went away except for one toy that he humps now if we keep it around for him. He's been nuetered since he was 8 months old and doesn't hump anymore. Both of my males kick after they pee, and the 12 week old girl puppies both kick after they pee on their pads but not outside yet. We don't have any problems with their behavior. Maybe he's just trying to make his place with the other girls. Whitney |

| I'm sorry that you are having trouble - but first of all as everyone has said 6 weeks is too young to be sold and taken from his littermates and mom. Most yorkies are not ready to be in a new home until they are about 12 weeks old - 8 weeks is even too young. You have a baby - he doesn't know anything - you can't expect anything from him either. You must be very loving to him - discipline isn't okay right now, other than saying no and putting him where you want him or removing an object from him and giving him something that is more suitable. He is a real baby and will be for quite a long time to come. If you don't want to have him pee all over - put him in a play pen with paper to go on having food and water available all the time. REMEMBER HE IS TOO YOUNG to know better. Karen |

| Wow, I agree that he is VERY young, too young to be away from his mother. He is just showing dominance.
