| Tears on my Yorkie. I just cut back my 1st owner/handler champion. The clippers may rust from all my tears dropping on them. He still has his topknot as I could not bring myself to cut it off. Am I normal? He does look adorable and is having a ball running around in the grass. I worked so hard on his show coat and now it's all gone. Has anyone else gone through this? |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Don't breed and don't show.... but I can imagine ...to show a dog and put all that devotion & work with hair - then cut it down has to be sad for you - hugs - it'll grow back and you get to do it all over again lol I bet he was just gorgeous and is now CUTE ! I cried and then laughed at Chanels first haircut ...she thought she was all THAT and a bag of chips |

| I am sure that he will be happier because you don't have to comb all of that long hair everyday.

| Do you have any pictures of him after the haircut? Think of it as long nails.. they are pretty but they sure can get in the way sometimes. |

| Jan one thing I have learned here is you are NEVER alone on YT. sometimes it just takes a while to find you I cant image cutting him. But you both will be happy with the result and decreased care. It'll grow back if and when you need it. You always have picture |

| I still cant cut down one of my retired girls , Mimi. Never finished her because she hated it. I shaved her belly and trimmed the hair under her eyes but thats all I can do without loosing it. Taboo I cut half her hair off just because she brought everything in the house with that coat, it was like a magnet lol. The other day I had one of the girls give her bangs and cut off the front of her topknot. I couldnt do it just because it was so pretty but I had to pull up her hair 3 times or more a day and she hated having it done. I think she looks adorable

| Jan, you got a glue gun? .....It is understandable to be sad when all that beautiful hair falls to the floor, it's the same way I feel when I go get mine cut...panic sets in..... On the good side he must be deliriously happy not to be brushed out all the time.....It will come back......

| coat I have cut many long coats off...and it was always a HAPPY day in my life..LOL I band some of the hair, then cut it off...and saved it. I have the hair of my first Yorkie champion..(the hair is 18 yrs old) when I take it out of the box/tissue, I can still smell my Chopper boy! |

| Awww...I feel your pain. Don't show, but I have been trying to bring myself to give mine a summer trim for a few weeks now. Had the clippers out, brushed one of my girls and noticeds that for the first time her coat was floor length....shook my head, put the clippers up and said, "maybe another day." |

| Thanks for all the replies. It is so much easier when the coats are cut back. If I ever get the nerve to cut off his topknot, I will save it. |
