Donating YT 11K Club Member | I'm getting London spayed soon but have a few concerns I am making an appt. for London's spay within this month or next. I called this really good, reccomended vet hospital but I have a few concerns. They don't do laser for spaying, which i was interested in..and they require the dog to sleep overnight, with no one there on staff to watch them They close at 8 p.m. and open at 8 a.m. , i just think there should be someone there watching them. It's a really good place but that's a problem. I can't leave London overnight, i will be up all night with worry and she's soooo tiny, what if something happens during the night?? im worried

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Tell them you do not want her to stay overnight they cannot keep your dog esp. since there's noone there i can't believe they would even want to keep her. I alway's wonder why they do this with female's & not male's i know there surgery is worse so should'nt they be somewhere where there being watched. |

| when we got Tumi and Gracie spayed, the vet said they require that we leave them over night but I said I don't feel comfortable with it and I want to be there for them. So they let me take them home after they were spayed.

| Animals that have had surgery should never be left alone overnight. If they try to make you, I would find another vet. I would have a hard time trusting a vet with this policy. I also would have a hard time trusting a vet that thinks they don't need pain meds after a spay. While they are there alone who is watching to make sure that they are coming out of anesthesia okay, not reacting to pain meds, that their incision isn't coming open, that they haven't pulled their IV out, that they aren't screaming in pain, and if they don't have an IV that they aren't going hypoglycemic, that they are breathing okay... No way would I have left Ellie alone after her spay. Her vet is staffed 24 hours and I would've let her stay but she came home four hours after surgery because there was no reason for her to be there...

| I understand your concern, I would feel the same way! It seems like nowadays places don't require they stay overnight as much. I would feel different if it was a 24 hour place and someone was there to check on them, but I wouldn't leave them otherwise!

| There is no way I would ever, ever leave Toto overnight without round the clock care. This is an understanding that I have with both her vets and they understand there is no room to quibble. When we had a problem with one of our little rescues who had surgery, they made arrangements with the ER here, she stayed in ER at night with round the clock care and went back to our vet hospital during the day. If there will be noone with your baby at night, what's the difference in being home with you watching round the clock?? That would seem much better to me. I hope everything works out ... please keep us updated.

| Mia is getting spayed the beginning of June and I have the same concerns about leaving her there over night. She'd be there for 7 hours alone! I called the vet and I'm going to met with him a week or so before her spay to talk to him about my concerns. Maybe that's what you should do?

| I wouldnt leave her there overnight since no one is there. I have heard of someone om here that had a female that had complications from the surgery. Luckily she was at home where her mom could monitor her

Donating YT 11K Club Member | So I gave them a call and they said they mostly only get small breed dogs, they get a lot of Yorkies and the doctors are very experienced with operating on tinies, and they told me all about the anestesia they use. There is even a doctor that operates on hamsters and really small animals frequently so i may want to talk to him, even tho London is not a hamster But you know what i mean, he operates dogs. They went over all i have to do and the prices and everything and all sounds great! I asked them if there is any possible way that i can take her the same day, i was speaking to the receptionists of course cause the docs were all busy and she said i can speak with the doc about that, so i will have a talk with him and see what he says. If they let me it will most likely be a go, and will get it done there. The prices sound good, they are def. not cheap but i'd rather pay top dollar and go to a great vet and have my baby at a safe place and well taken care of, they got rave reviews! So I'm going to schedule an appt. for her and see how that goes. She needs to get the bloodwork done, the pre-op exam, the ekg which is to test the heart i believe and she also needs teeth pulled and cleaned. I also wanted to get 2 dewclaws removed that the nails are growing funny but if its not reccomended by the doc then i won't do it. I'm so nervous for her. If they don't let me take her home the same day i will go elsewhere and keep doing my research
