| Harness/Exploring - PLEASE HELP! Hi my little Max keeps chewing on every harness we get him. I just purchased one from Chattiesmom which she made for him and it did not last one day. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can keep him from chewing his harness. Buying harnesses all the time is going to put me in the poor house. He also tends to want to explore outside of the confines of our backyard. Yesterday, he ran into the street only by some miracle he did not get hit. It disturbed me to no end and I was a nervous wreck. Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong that my dog wants to stray. |

| Well, don't know how old he is but they are very curious little doggies. I would only wear a harness on him when you take him outside to potty and never wear it on him in the house. That way he will get use to the harness and not be able to chew it and also he will not be able to run off when you take him outside.

| I don't know how big he is, but I bought a cat harness from Wal-Mart and it is very well made. It has lasted through Snoodles and now Misty. Mine was chewing on my antique oak kitchen table, so I put tape on the claw legs, and then put cheyenne pepper on it. End of problem. Also put white pepper on my throw rug she was chewing. She is not trying to stray, but as mentioned above, they are very curious and may I add dumb in a way. My vet said it's a wonder all puppys ever live with all the stuff they swollow and chew. He said they are dumb! Of course, we all know ours are smart, Right? Pat |

| Well I wouldn't say they're dumb, just curious. They're like toddlers, they learn by putting things in their mouths. Not dumb, just learning.

| You may want to look at the harnesses offered here, the synthetic lambskin one. It looks durable. GOOBY Luxury Harness PINK (one size only) - Harnesses by Affordable Petable, Inc.

| Buy a Lupine Lupine harnesses and leashes are guaranteed forever, he can chew through 20 of them and you will only pay for the very first one. We have the H style and Buddy can not get a hold of it to chew on it, before this one we had the same problem. Here is a link Lupine® - Small Dog Products

| I don't know what kind of harness it is, do you have a pic? I use the harness vests on my boys. I only put their harnesses on when we are going out. That way, they associate them with something good because they love going outside, so they sit nice and still for me to put them on.

| Murphy did this with his harness. I bought a Buddy Belt. When it is on Murphy cannot reach it to but it in his mouth. They are around $40, but you are saving money by not having to replace harnesses.
