| Hello Everyone! My name is Dana I just joined today because i am getting yorkie puppy next week. I had one when i was much younger many years ago and i had a shihtzu up till last year. Things have changed and i would like to learn more about raising and keeping my fur baby has healty as possible. My first order of business is to research the best food to feed her. I have researched that yorkies should avoid wheat and corn. Is this accurate? I have a large kennel i plan to keep her in when we are not home to keep her safe but i was also wondering if a play pen was better. I will enjoy going thru this site for more info. Look forward to being a member. Also, she is not named yet and i want something unique and exotic, so i open to suggestions there as well. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome and congratulations. I had good luck with a playpen for Cali, but Pixie chewed her way out. Corn definately should be avoided and I avoid wheat due to Cali having allergies. Can't wait to see pictures.

| Welcome to YT Dana. You will find eveything you need to know to keep your baby healthy. Do a search on food. There was a thread showing all the better foods and how they were rated some time ago. Look forward to seeing pictures of your little one when you get her. |

A lot of people have had problems with Royal Canin, Where do you plan on buying your food one of thebig pet chains or smaller pet store? Not all foods are sold every where I would pick like 3 or for and then find out where they are available by you. I feed Milo Merrick and he loves it. Good Luck | |

| Royal Canin Wow i figured since its formulated for YT's it would be good. Well i do have a speciality pet store minutes from me that does sell high end pet foods and a Petsmart is near by as well. I just want the best food possible and there are so many to choose from. Since my fur baby will only be 12 weeks what is a puppy food someone would recommend. The breeder recommended Vets choice Holistic health extension little bites puppy food. Is anyone familiar with this brand? |
