| My baby is a Spider Monkey! Help! Hello! This is my very first post! I bought Simba a month ago, and is now 5 months old. I keep it in a playpen during the day. In the beginning, Simba was a very good boy and just stayed in there. Now that it's a little bigger (2 lbs), it knows how to climb out like a monkey! It could climb over it sooo quickly! It uses the little holes like a ladder! Do you think buying a slightly taller playpen would help? Currently it's 24" tall. Any suggestions? Do your babies like their playpen?? |

| I know the feeling. Max is 3# and he started crawling out after about 3 weeks also. I went ahead and bought a good size crate. All is safe and sound now.

| Yorkies are little Houdini's!! They are very stubborn and tenacious and will use all their might to get out if they want!! When my little one was a pup she would scale a 36" baby gate and we couldn't believe she could do it!! They only way he won't be able to get out is if you put something slippery like a piece of plastic in their so he can't grip it with his little nails!! Good Luck!

Donating YT Addict | My baby can climb right up a 30" playpen so my husband build a little overhang of wood around the edge. It works sort of like how the birdfeeders keep the squirrels from getting in.

| It depends on what type pen it is, I know some pens have coverings you can order and that would solve the problem. Slade is a monkey too and I know he would find his way out of any pen I put him in, so while I"m gone he is in an XL crate whch gives him plenty of room for his food, water, and to play and I don't have to worry about him escaping.

| I made a pen with 2 by 4 and screen. Its not so pretty but it was cheap and works like a charm. I got to size it to my room and you can get VERY small weave screen that their nails cant get purchase in, IF you keep their nails cut. Good luck and post pictures. |

| Your babie is darling. I wish you the best on all the suggestions for when I read the topic title header. I had to reminisce for I had the same problem 12 yrs ago when training Grizzley Bear with baby gates. I ended up using plastic and putting down a big pillow on the other side just in case he could perform another magic trick and if he should fall over it would be more comfortable on his little body. You never know with these Houdinis's. Sounds like you are in love with your little babies and I wish you a wonderful life together. Welcome to YT. This is a great place to be. The people are great and the babies are beautiful! I agree more pictures of your Spider Monkey! Mary

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | welcome to YT! I had the same problems with Bengi. I used to keep a baby gate in the kitchen and he would climb it so we ended up making a tall plywood gate, so he didn't have any holes to use as a ladder YOu're gonna have to come up with another idea for confinement. Once they learn how to get out of the playpen, they will keep climbing it |

| My little girl climbed out of her pen the second night we had her as a tiny pup. I found her the next morning sleeping inside my slipper next to the bed! I found a black wire top for the pen online. I had to shape the pen into a 4' x 4' square, but the top fit perfectly and did the trick! Before the top came, I actually caught her climbing the pen. She was hanging on in a corner of the pen by her front paws, and her little back legs were swinging back and forth trying to get a foothold. It was actually pretty funny looking! I had to put a tarp over the top of the pen until the top arrived.
