| Housebreaking problems Our one year old Yorkie isn't catching on to going outside to poop. She was doing really well until the weather turned cold last winter and that is when the trouble started. She will pee outside but will not poop outside. No matter how long we have her outside, she will wait until she gets back indoors to poop. We don't know if we should try to paper train her and be done with it or what. She likes to go outside to run and play but just doesn't want to poop outside. When she does poop outside we make a BIG deal about it and give her a treat and she is so proud of herself but then she goes right back to pooping in the house. We have bells on the back door for her to ring when she needs out but she has only used them a couple of times. I have never had a problem in housebreaking a dog before....they were always broke within a few months. I had heard that Yorkies are hard to housebreak but I didn't believe it because I have housebroke poodles, shih tzu and our golden retriever without any problems, didn't think a Yorkie would be any different. We love our Gracie but just wish she would catch on to pooping outside...any suggestion???? __________________ Gracie's Mom

| Lily would not go outside either but I think it is due to the cold. My only suggestion would be to stay consistent if you want her to go out side that is what you need to stick with when she goes in side you need to tell her NO in a stern voice and take her outside, also I would crate her when you are busy do not give her a chance to go potty inside. If she does not go #2 while out the first time put her in a crate and take her out again in a while until she finally goes, most dogs will not potty in a crate. I hope this help I went through the same issues. I finally went to the potty pad because no matter what I tried Lily wold not potty in the cold.

| Ahhh, I'm having problems with Bentley as well! For the past couple weeks he was so good with pooping on the pad & now - out of nowhere - he's decided he's just gonna do it wherever he darn well pleases! I'm going out of my mind! Any suggestions?

| Thanks for the suggestions. She knows when she has been bad.....she will hide from us because she knows she is going to be scolded. What a little stinker!!! She is full grown at 1 year and only weighs 3 lbs. so it is real easy for her to hide from us. She does really well in her crate and will not potty in it. She can hold it over night or when we are gone for the day. When we open the crate door she runs to the back door as fast as she can and will go outside to potty so I know she understands what is expected of her.

| Hi, this is what I would do. When you catch the pup in the act, say poopie outside, pick up the poop with tissue, go outside with your pup, take the poop that is in the tissue and place it on the grass, repeat, poopie outside! When she does go outside, give 2-3 cheerios. If you want her to poop on the pad, take the poop that she planted on the floor and put it on the pad, let her know that is where poop goes. If you see that she did not go outside, I would attach the leash to me so that I can catch her in the squat and immediately take her to the pad or outside. A few times of this and hopefully she will get back on track. Lots of luck.

| You won't believe this but... Sadie is 6 months. She got spayed two weeks ago. She wears premie onesies. She has not gone potty inside with her onesies on at all in two weeks!!! She was not 100% potty trained before this and I think the onesie is helping her remember to not potty inside. Call me crazy but my baby has DRY PANTS!
