| New pup We have a perfect 3 year old Yorkie, Dewey. He is spoiled rotten. He is 6lbs. My son's dogs pure Shih Tzu have just had 4 puppies this morning. My wife wants one. These pups can be 8 to 14 lbs when grown. How do you think Dewey would do with a Shih Tzu? Does anyone have a Yorkie and Shih Tzu? Are there any problems having two dogs? Dewey is trained to pee pads on our screened porch. Will it be harder to train a second dog to pee pads on the prorch? We are thinking it would be good for Dewey to have a play mate. We are going to fence in our front yard for them to play. Just a little nerve racking thinking of the training and care of another dog. |

| I have always had two dogs and think its the best. I will never just have one. They love eachother and always have a play mate. There are a bunch of YTers that have a yorkie and a shih tzu - they should do just fine together and I would imagine that the Shih Tzu would be even easier to train since it will be watching your yorkie us the pee pads. Good luck to you !

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I love Shih Tzus and think they would make a great companion for Dewy. The size won't be overwhelming and Shih Tzus seem to be fairly easygoing. I've heard yorkies are one of the hardest breeds to potty-train, and so if you can do that, you can do anything. I think having an older sibling helps teach the younger one where to go, as they seem to like to go in the same place. Are you thinking boy or girl? Beside, if your wife wants one, isn't that all that matters. Remember the sage advice: "Keep moma happy and the whole family's happy."

| We have 3 older dogs and after my molly had her puppies we kept one and also added a maltese. The youngest yorkie gus (5 mo.) and our new maltese Rosie are only a day apart but they are the best of friends. It has been very easy for us to train the both of them. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would have 5 dogs....Good luck with your decision! |
