| Becoming a First Time Yorkie Mom tomorrow Tomorrow I am going to a friends home to pick up a 7 month old Yorkie. My friend is ill and can no longer care for the dog. I have a ten year old Maltese. Any tips? The dog is not housebroken (with running back and forth to the hospital) there was just no time, this illness was sudden. I know the dog needs alot of love and affection. |

| Introducing the dogs to one another is SOOOOO important. Introducing a new dog comes to my home for a visit I make sure to introduce them first outside of the home. We go for a long walk until they are walking together side by side, this way they are used to one another and there is less of a territorial issue once inside. |

| Congratulations! Hope you have as much fun with a Yorkie as the rest of us do. They are a handful, though. Be prepared. They are like non-other. On house-training, all I can say is x-pen, crates, piddle pads, and eyes in the back of your head.

| welcome to YT! not sure how to do the introductions "properly" but when i introduced mine, i would keep the x-pen between them for a little bit and let them sniff one another through that...once they seemed "okay" with one another, i would put them together and sit on the floor with them to see how they interacted...i guess i got lucky because each of mine became friends really quick good luck and congrats on the new baby!

| Congrats on your new baby and I hope your friend is feeling better soon. Hopefully your new little one will pick up on the potty habits pretty quickly from your Maltese! Good Luck
