| Do yorkies go through growth spurts? Sadie weighed 2.8 pounds at her last vet check up. She was 16 weeks... SHe is almost 18 weeks and weighs 3 pounds. She was gaining 2 oz a week... could this be a growth spurt??? 8 oz in a week and a half seemed like a lot to me.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | yes they can have growth spurts. you said she weighed 2.8 pounds at 16 weeks and now she's 3lbs at 18 weeks. that's 2/10's of a pound in two weeks, not 8oz. most scales at the vet's office weigh just in pounds and not pounds and ounces.

| Definitely. Between 12 and 16 weeks, Holly only gained a few ounces. The next month she had gained over 1/2 pound.

| When I asked them, they said it was in oz though... I have a postal scale and it is pretty deadon as long as the dog is still. i wait till she is very still to get the right weight. I think she is 3 pounds. She is a cutie and if she winds up bigger that's fine. I jus thought she gained really fast thats all.
