| weight gain? Okay I have question for y'all. Is is normal for a dog to gain 2 lbs in 2 weeks? Hunter went from 2 lbs at 10 wks to 4lbs at 12 wks. The vet did not seem concern with it but I am not sure. But this is really his first weight gain since I got him. Thanks in advance Jamie Hunter |

| That seems like a lot of weight gain but they all grow at different rates. maybe its a growth spurt

| My Zada did the same thing and I took her for a thyroid blood check. She had hyper thyroid and was put on medication. Rapid weight gain can either be a medical problem or a growth spurt. Call and ask your Vet. his/her opinion. |

| I agree with Yorkiedaze i would call the vet and have it checked out. Max did that to but his was because he was underweight and malnourished and when i got him home and started feeding him the pounds just jumped on but in his case it was a good thing.

| I was kinda thinking it was a growth spurt since he had not gain anything since we got him at 6 wks. He weighs 2 lbs at our 6 week visit. He loves to play and run around chasing the boys around and has a ball when he goes to vistit with his furcousin(my sister's yorkie) a couple times a week. I will call the vet monday and check with him. He was having plumbing problems at home today so was not in for long and hubby took Hunter to the vet. Thanks Jamie Hunter |

| Sounds like a growth spurt. Samson did the same thing and that's what the vet said.

| That seems like a lot of weight gain in such a short time. But each dog is different with that. They also gain wieght fast when they are young. I'd give it some more time and the weight gain persists , cut back a little on how much you feed your baby |

| If he weighted 2 lbs at 6 weeks and 2 lbs at 10 weeks and all of a sudden he is 4 lbs at 12 weeks, I tend to believe that maybe someone read the scale wrong at his 10 week weighing or the scale was wrong. My guess he is just fine but it is aways better to be safe than sorry if you suspect anything is wrong. |
