| Top 10 list of things I have learned on YT. I thought it would be fun if we all listed the top 10 (are as many as you would like) things we have learned from this great forum. I could list at least 100, but I will pick my top 10. 1. Great grooming advice. I heard of the http://www.chrissystems.com/ for the first time here, and it has been wonderful. I had a little trouble at first with the Ice on Ice, but thanks to all of you, I found out the proper way to use it, and now I am in love. I also use it with a Qtip under the eyes to prevent tear stains. The Day to Day Moisturizing shampoo & conditioner is great. 2. I have learned that a harness is better than a collar due to the fact that Yorkies have such fragile little throats. I also found out that leaving a harness or collar on your dog can cause matts. 3. Be careful of grooming products that contain silicone. Although the silicone makes the coat look good at the time, over time it can lead to a dryer coat and cause breakage. 4. Bows!!http://stores.ebay.com/Vals-Diva-Dos...toreviewQQtZkm http://debbiesbows.com/ 5. I no longer use a slicker brush. Good grooming tools are as important as good products. Please take the tip test at http://www.chrissystems.com/tiptest.htm to learn what I did. I feel so bad about all the years I was abusing my poor babies with the wrong brush. No wonder they hated grooming. Now with the pin brush, they love to be brushed. Plus, their coat looks so much better. You need to read http://www.chrissystems.com/grooming.htm for great tips on dog grooming. There is some really great info there as well. 6. If your dog suffers from the "itchys" as mine did, it could possibly be the corn in their dog food. For years I fed Science Diet because that is what my vet pushed on me. But after much research on this forum, I learned that corn could be the cause of my dogs itch. I made the switch to Canidae http://canidae.com/ and now the "itchys" are gone. I have learned to be a label reader and stay away from anything with corn. 7. Instead of "Begging Strips" and other wal-mart treats, I now know that the best treats I can give my babies are little pieces of raw carrot, apple and string green beans. They actually like them better than the store bought treats and I feel I am providing a much healthier snack for them. (cheaper too). They now enjoy a little cottage cheese as well. 8. Odor Ban. This is some great stuff that you can get at Sam's Club and it really works. No more pee pee smell at my house. 9. I found out that Borax sprinkled on your carpet then vaccumed up helps to get rid of any flees. (it's on the laundry isle at wal-mart) Just be sure to throw out the vacuum cleaner bag when your done. 10. For years I brushed my dogs hair when it was dry. I now know that you should never do this. Firts mist something on like Ice on Ice or any other leave in conditioner or detangler, then brush. This really helps to not break the hair. Infusium works great too. Thanks to all the great people here on this site!! These are all things that I had no knowledge of before I came here. I feel blessed to have found this forum. My dogs are healthier and happier too. I come here almost daily and it never fails, I learn something new. I really enjoy going back and reading all of the older threads as well. There is more helpful information on this site then any book you could ever read on Yorkies. PS: The only negative thing I can say is that my credit card balance keeps climbing due to all the things I read about that I think my babies can't live without. | Great thread. I learned some new things from your list. Here is my list: 1) Great grooming tips. I also learned I was using the wrong brush. So I got a pin brush and grooming has being easier. I will love to get the http://www.chrissystems.com, I heard is great. 2) Harnesses are best than collars. 3) I also learned that the best food to give our pups is dry kibble that doesn't contains by-products and corn. I feed Gucci Natural Balance. Dry kibble is best for their teeth. 4) Food that contain corn can cause itching, so try to avoid corn on your pups food. You can use Missing link to help skin and coat, etc. 5) Also to relieve iching you can use Oatmeal Shampoo. 6) Yorkies teeth need to be brush daily. 7) If you give your pup Greenies always keep an eye on them because small pieces can choke. 8) Never give rawhide to a Yorkie. 9) I learned that chocolate, onions, peanuts are poisonous for Yorkies. 10) I learned of some great stores to get good products for Yorkies like, bowes, harnesses, dresses etc. |

| I have learned that I am totally addicted to this forum! I can't believe how much time I spend on here! But it's a good thing because the other thing I learned saved my baby's life this past weekend. I don't know if you all have read the thread that I wrote about it in the General Discussion area titled "Holy Hypogycemic Episode", but what I learned on this forum helped me identify the problem my baby was having and gave me the knowledge to act fast and save his little life too. Everyone should be aware of what to look for and know how to take action. I never thought that it would happen to my little Deega, but it did.

| I have learned, more importantly than anything, that there is a great group of supportive and knowledgeable people all hanging out together on this little internet site! And that no matter what I don't know, because I can probably find someone who does! That, and also that I'm not the only one who lets my dog French me. |

| I have learned a lot about the personalities of the breed. I am enjoying learning what is the same about the littlest terrier and some of the larger terrier family members. It is neat that the terrier instinct is right there. Determination, fearlessness....that will get them in trouble sometimes. Most importantly...KEEP THE NUTRICAL with her at all times...ALL TIMES!! Never give up on them...no matter how sick they are...cause they will always be the last to give up. What I still need to know is how they got that great big heart in that teeny tiny body. |

| Ok, here goes: 1) I am NOT crazy (or at least not alone!). 2) Other people allow their dogs the same freedoms I do. 3) Breeders are COOL (thanks Pat and Rini). 4) All yorkies are not 'standard' 5) All yorkies are special 6) Yorkie owners have a unique sense of humor (which I adore). 7) There ARE passionate people still around 8) Sometimes, having your heart broken can end up being a good thing. 9) Nothing makes you feel better than when someone gets a new puppy here! 10) There is a LOT to learn about yorkies! What I can't figure out is what I actually did before I started coming here!
