| Daisy in heat. Hello everyone. Can someone please give me some advice. My 9 month yorkie, Daisy, is in heat. I don't know what I should do. Im not letting her on the furniture. But she keeps jumping up there. I don't want her to stain my furniture. Do they sell anything for this kind of situation? |

| Hello there... My baby Meka went into heat last month (8 mo.) and it was quite a learning experience. I bought her some diapers from the pet store, size small and I still had to cut em' a little to fit her comfortably. There's a few members on here that sell diapers...and I'll be looking into how much they charge for em'. I think they might be a little more comfortable for her. Meka's heat lasted a little over two weeks! But every pup is different... I hope this helps

| Just some advice: if you have any intact male dogs, keep them away from her completely for a full month. Or even if you don't, make sure you never leave her outside unattended...even in a secure, fenced in backyard for only a minute. Males can smell a female in heat up to a mile away and can dig under and jump/climb over the highest fences to get to a female in heat. And it can only take a minute... She will bleed for 7-9 days. Then for the next week she will be in her receptive stage. And then another 7-9 days going out of heat. Some dog's heat is shorter - some longer. Average is about three weeks total.
