Default How do I fix this??

My little boy Rocco is such a good little boy, but when he gets upset with me he pees or poops away from his pad. So here's the story, tell me if you see a solution..Ok the dogs have a huge bedroom that is alllll theirs. They have their toys, potty pads, water, beds, etc. all in there. So they are in their bedroom while my fiance and I are at work. As soon as one of comes we let them out in the yard to get fresh air, to go potty and to have dinner. So after about 30 minutes of being out there, I bring them in, wash them up, and put them in their room while my fiance and I have some dinner together. During this dinner time that they are up there he will not bark or whine, but I will come up to bring them back down and he has PEED or POOped on the carpet! I know that he knows where to go, because when we're not home most of the time he gets it on the pad (though the poop we're still working on). I now put belly band on him anytime he's in his room, but that's just a short term fix because I know it's not training him properly.Sometimes we go out after dinner to go grocery shopping or running errands, so they don't always come back down till much later and he always leaves us little surprises. What can I do??

Well, I have trained a male that was 8 months old and had not ever been on grass and was not paper trained or pp pad trained..nothing, I used the belly bands and after a few months he did not like being wet, and starting going outside more..so belly bands do work,.,.I fell like your saying no you cannot pp in the house...but do not let him go outside with it on, or he will not know what it is really for...I had success...
good luck..I think they just get upset with us, and they will do that...just to say hey, I cannot talk, but I can do this mess where I am not suppose to..

Thank you so much. That's good to know. I know he doesn't like getting wet, but doesn't stop him from wetting it nicely I definitely take it off before he goes out so he knows he can go potty outdside. Little stinker, he is so darn cute. I never catch him in the act either so I just end up quietly cleaning it up, BEFORE daddy sees it..hehe

how many dogs are up there? You said dogs, and I'm just wondering how you know it's him doing it? dogs are funny, they get mad at you and they do things like that..heck, I have 4 of them in here, when I brought Ginger home, I got up the next morning, and I had 2 piles of crap on my family room floor(now, these other 3 have been completely pee pad trained for a long time)..He must really miss his mom, and he's getting back at you for you not letting him stay down there with you..

well I tell you when I got that boy, and he did not know anything but doing three pointers all over the house everywhere. I had to do something..so the belly band it was..I kept it on him for so long, can't remember, but felt like months and months..then I just stopped it..and then awhile later I said to my hubby, I think he is trained..He loves going outside now and does all the time..and he acts so proud of himself, he will go in the house if he cannot get out, but that is understantable.

When I go up and see pee, I put my hand on his belly and his weenie is always wet, and hers is dry So I know it's him..little stinker..and she religiously poos on the pad, always has, and he religiously poos off the pad I will continue with the belly band use, but how do I fix the poopy thing?

maybe crate him during this time instead...then in a week or so, give him the chance again..after awhile, he'll get the hang of it

I read somewhere that you don't let the dogs see you clean up the mess Pee, Poop. Sometimes they will take that as a reward. I don't know if try but that is what I read. So I have never let the boys see me clean it up. I tell bad potty then put in time out.

Do you have a crate you can put him in just while you eat. Maybe if you use one for a couple of weeks he'll get the hint.

I've also heard that if you reprimand them after the fact (and you didn't catch them in the act) it might actually make the problem worse. I don't know what to do. I just want him to go on the pad. It's not like I make him hold it all day or anything. He has pads available. I know he knows where to go because when he's not mad he pees on the pad. The poo is usually a miss so I don't know how to fix that.

I do, but then do I crate Coco too? I just feel bad to crate them when there is so much available space in their room

How much time are they getting outside of their room? Are they getting more than 1/2 hour of exercise outside daily? Do you guys go on daily walks?

Yes they get at LEAST an hour outside, be it walk, or me chasing them around playing in the yard. They also get several hours just hanging out with us after dinner until bedtime. So they are only in their room while we're at work and while we eat dinner/clean it up. But they get their hour outside before dinner. So after a long day in their room, we take them for a walk and play with them in the yard.

Never punish or yell for pottying it wont help at all they will just be scared or nervous to potty & will eat it or hide OR hold it in all together Always praise when he goes in the right spot
mabee hes not letting it all out when outside then gets excited cause he knows your down stairs & cant help it why dont you get a playpen & keep them with you while your eating at least they will see you but not bug you while your eating & give them a chewy to keep them calm

Ok, being that I have a male as well, here is my honest advice.

I don't believe in crate training, so I won't suggest that. But I do think that having their own room is GREAT! However, I really think that you need to take the carpet out of that room You should have a floor that is ease to clean up accidents. And if you get the dog litter boxes and place the pee pads inside the box, it forces them to have to step into the box to do potty.

It took me fooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeevvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeee errrrrrrrrrrrr to get TJ to stop going poop behind the couch. But after months (and I mean months) of having such HIGH praises and YUMMY treats for going poop in the box, he now doesn't miss a beat

Best of Luck - I know how fustrating it is.
