| Seperation Anxiety.. Okay. So if Brett and i want to have a night out,(go to the movies or to dinner) alone i leave Bentley with my parents so he doesnt have to be in his crate the whole time we are gone. This way he can play with my other dogs. Last night my mom was telling me that if Bentley is in the backyard playing and doesnt realize we left he's fine for hours. Then she proceeded to tell me that if we leave while he's inside and can see us leave he will go sit at the front door when we leave. She said he sits there for a few mins and she of course will go pick up to try and play. But she said he wont even play. he just walks into my room and lays on some blankets on the floor. He just sulks while we are gone. Could this be the start of him gettin seperation anxiety?? is there anyway to make him more comfortable if we leave? He usually goes everywhere with us .. do you think that he thinks he did something wrong??

| I think that is "normal"...Maximus does the same thing...regardless of whether he sees us or not..my bf's mom said that today after my bf dropped him off he began going to all the dorrs in the house scratching and whining as if he thought he was still in the house..once he saw no one else was there he went into his travel crate and went to sleep till I got there

| Daisy does the same thing too if she sees me go out the door even if my bfriend is home with her. She'll sit by the door and wait. Daisy has separation anxiety! If we put her in her crate she will cry like she's being beaten to death and drools and froths at the mouth and all over herself and will cry herself to the point where she has soft stool like diarrhea. We've fig'd out if we leave her in the bathroom with Choppi in his crate and her out on the open she doesn't "panic" as much...now that is separation anxiety!

| It sounds like normal Yorkie behavior to me. Actually, normal for most puppies. Just distract them and leave. Works for me most of the time.. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | WOw...My HUMAN kids did that and now my yorkie kids do it - I'd say try to be normal and not make a big deal out of leaving and ALWAYS tell him you'll be back - but they really can pout and sulk ! Mine have their noses glued to my door till I get home and they have their daddy here...so it doesn't get easier with the guilt ...but a good routine can help a little - saying the same thing etc....He'll probably still pout though...mine do and it's been 3 years now with Chanel. |
