| To Much???? Please respond. Okay everyone, I am currently bathing my Rocco (3 months yesterday) about every other day or couple of days. I do this partly because I enjoy bathing and grooming him and partly because I don't like him greasy and smelly. Am I bathing him to much or is this okay? I have noticed a little bit of what looks like dandrif on him so does that mean I am drying his skin out by bathing him so much? |

| You are bathing him too much. I wouldn't do it more than once a week. If you enjoy it, you may come and give Ellie her baths.

| Yes that seems like you are bathing him too much. If he is greasy and smelly after two days, then maybe you just need to find another shampoo that will work better for him. |

| Yes...you will dry his hair out and do damage to it...if they're not going outside at all, they can go a long time in between baths..the groomer told me that people are overdoing it with their dogs on bathing...I have mine done 3-4 times a year..and they dont' stink, and their hair is not greasy looking |

| It does seem like a lot... I try to bathe MeMe once a week, though I do wash her face w/ wash cloth daily.

| Yeah I think you are drying out his skin with too much bathing...This can also be very bad for his coat...I was told by my vet that one bath every 3 weeks or so was the most healthy for the skin on a silky coated dog with no undercoat...However I bathe a little more frequently and as needed if Bruce gets super dirty...If your dog is getting really greasy and smelly in just 1-2 days and he is not doing anything unusual it would sound to me as if your pooch may have some sort of skin condition. I am sure that in lieu of a total bath you could maybe just wipe the little guy down with a warm wash rag and brush him thoroughly.

| LOL, you guys are killing me! I fight a two year old boy every night for a bath so my little 2 pound Rocco is a breeze. I think that the reason that Rocco gets greasy and smelly so quickly is because our dachshund Patch is constantly licking on him. I'll take the advice and cut back though. Thanks so much! |

| Mine gets a bath every 2 weeks. She does get a little stinkier as bath time is drawing near, but I think her skin is less dry and her coat is very pretty.

| I only bathe mine once a week, so their skin doesn't get all dried out.

| I bath Rockie every week with oatmeal shampoo. It really helped the dandruff he was getting. |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | We bath our girls once a week and sometimes once every two weeks...they don't get too stinky, unless they have been playing outside alot!! Our two Silky (show boys) get bathes twice a week, once for general bathing and once for deep conditioning on their coats...but that is not the normal. Our two yorkie girls are not in show coats so they don't get bathed that often...
