Default Dog Restrictions In Nottingham

Nottinghamshire council are planning to bring in a pet limit for their council houses, tenants will only be allowed to keep one dog OR cat.

I am moving to nottinghamshire soon, fortunatly to our own house not a council house but this is still very scary. First the dublin dog ban and now this. I feel that its quickly becoming a very scary time to be a dog owner in the UK.

I'm moving to a village called Stanton Hill just outside Sutton-In-Ashfield. Must be pretty close to you then as I think its only about 3 and a half miles outside of Mansfield.

Yes I know where that is,about 20 mins drive from me.Know someone who used to live there.I live at Blidworth and my daughter lives at Rainworth although she's hoping to move back to the village.Perhaps we could organise a meet up when you are settled.

Yeah that would be great, we should be moving in a couple of weeks as we are pretty close to exchange now. I'm sure my 3 would enjoy a play date with some other yorkies

I'm in Council Housing and I've not heard anything about this. From I've been told by my housing officer, Nottinghamshire Council Homes is a Housing Association and it is them that are forcing this rule. Stanton Hill should be Ashfield District Council, Midnightmist, (my Mum) is Newark and Sherwood District Council and I'm Mansfield District so it shouldn't affect any of us anyway even if it was a council rule.

Hopefully we can arrange a playdate, Gypsy and Ellie love playing!

Its good that it won't effect any of us but I still feel bad for those who it does effect, must be devastating.

Some housing associations are understanding though. When I moved into my flat I asked my Housing Officer if I could have a dog and he said no but a cat was fine, when I said I wanted a Yorkie and they were smaller than the average cat he said that would be okay and he thinks Gypsy is great! lol

When are you moving to Stanton Hill?

I was hoping to be in by now but just about everything that could go wrong has, at the moment they are awaiting paperwork about some risk of 'radon gas' as its an ex-mining village. Shoulden't be too long.

Nope diden't move yet, our sellers wife discoverd she was pregnant so they wanted to connect us to a chain to make sure they had a house to move into rather than moving in with family. Hoping that it will all tie up within a couple of weeks (feel like i've been saying that forever though lol).

Dog restrictions are everywhere, but not being allowed to have more than one dog or cat is a bit stiff for sure. Since you will have your own house you will be exempt from that rule thank goodness!

That sounds unfair to me. I'm glad you have your own house.
