yorkie owners in southern ontario Did the heat we just had in southern ontario bring on any illnesses in any of your yorkies? We are dealing with a bout of giardia which is caused by drinking contaminated water. It seems a number of people I talk to are having the same problem. Thanks, RM

| I am in Windsor. I usually give my dog's chilled bottled water (helps with the heat), but they have also been drinking out of the hose. No problemo.

Sorry to have misled, the water in Kingston is not contaminted, but Rory must have gotten into a puddle or some other source of bad water, (but not regular tap water) that contained the giardia parasite. RM

I just got the all clear from the tests yesterday, no more parasites!! Just have to keep him from puddles for sure and then all the other stuff he gets into too. But he's back to normal, so relieved. Thanks for your concern.

This heat has been hard on our Yorkie Charlie so we try to keep him indoors as much as possible and keep lots of water in front of him. Hope yours is feeling better. Gail

Charlie005, thank you for enquiring about my boy. He has gotten over his illness(s) and is looking forward to cooler weather. We walk REALLY slowly when we go out and he loves to lie down in the tall green grass in the shade to rest. I find as soon as the humidity drops he goes along at a real trot!! Have to remember these days when the two of us are out trudging around in the snow!!!! Rory's Ma
