Has anyone else had this problem ? My Dh thought he'd take Toto over to see our son and his family for a while last night and it was a complete disaster acording to him. Toto would have nothing to do with anybody and sat shaking and whining the whole time. The only thing that was different was I didn't go with them this time as I had a busy day and was tired. Mostly we go out all together. When they came home he stuck to me like glue and proceeded to bark at my Dh all night.

Mocha likes to have me around too He seems to be very insecure when I'm not in the room with him. God forbid I should leave him alone with my 15 year son too. He just about has a fit when that happens. Doesn't like to be left with any of the kids for that matter. He is getting better with Dh though.

| Harvey Also Stays Very Close To Me If We Go Anywhere Visiting - I Thought It Was Just Him, But Obviously Not.......... He Is Just So Close To Me And My Husband And Daughter, He Doesnt Want Anyone Else - It Is Very Difficult As Everyone Wants To Hold Him And Love Him As He Is So Tiny - But He Just Wants His Mummy All The While.....

Buddy and I are the only two at home so he is attached to me at the hip. He will not allow anyone to reach for him if he is with me or he will snap. As much as he loves my granddaughters and daughter he will not eat at their home. I worry when I go away. Will he starve? I think not. They get attached to one person and that's it.

Right now Toto is asleep just outside my office door When I make a move he gets up and finds out what I'm doing. Sometimes this velcro pup makes me a little crazy. Now when I go anyplace where I can't take him I worry that he's ok. it's like having a real baby. I never worried before when I had dogs because the were bigger as in Irish Setters and other terriers that were fine with other people to look after them. I did have a cat once that almost died when I put him in kennels when my Dh and I took a trip to England. He refused to eat and by the time we got back he was so skinny. This dog refuses to eat if Dh feeds him unless its tid-bits from his hand and won't go outside if he offers to let him out. I think my Dh needs his own pup, to pamper. Toto and Me

Spike is kind of the same way - it's clear that I'm his favourite - if I'm in the room he'll come to me every time. I've been trying to get him used to other people - I take him with me to my parents a lot, and it's made a difference. He is far more comfortable with them now that when I first got him, and he's far more comfortable in their house - he will go off on his own and then come back, whereas before he didn't leave my side. My parents will come by my house when I'm not home and take him places, too, and he's fine with that. Last week, my Dad had to take him to the vet (I was at work), and then they went back to my parent's house and he fell asleep in my Dad's lap! He also loves his obedience instructor, and a friend of mine who he's known for a while and at whose house he stayed when I was away in April. I think it's important to gradually get them used to others so that they get more confident around new people and not get scared! I let Spike investigate every new person and dog that he sees, as long as I think it's safe for him (and it usually is). We often go to the off-leash park, and he has a great time meeting every dog and every owner. I think it's a question of slowly introducing them to new people and places, a little bit at a time. That seems to have worked really well for Spike! I know I'll always be his favorite, though!

Well I took Totie to a girlfriends house over the weekend and he was just fine, but he was with me and Dh. She is a gal of many animals including a very nosey cockatoo that she finally had to cover over because everytime Toto went near it's cage she made this incredable noise. Apparently it likes to chase her cat around the house and thought Toto would be fun. Toto nearly had a stroke. Finally she brought this bird out with it's harness and leash but Toto kept his distance. When it was time to go home he was first into the car. So much for Big Brave Dog. I think he was abused as a pup because he is afraid of anyone with a cane.(me since I broke my leg, my Dad and my Step mom). But the more exposure he has the better he gets. Even my cleaning lady gets the cold shoulder if she holds a broom or any stick like equipment.
