Hi to all my fellow SoCal YT members! Have you seen this thread about the East Bay meet-up group?

http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...70#post1120470

I'm jealous how organized they are, and I'd love to get something together like this for us SoCal YT members. I've read some of your threads from the past where it sounds like you guys have attempted some meet-ups before (I wasn't a member of YT then), but I don't think you guys have anything "regular" scheduled, right? I'm thinking maybe we can plan to have a meet-up every month (or even twice a month if everyone's up to it), and maybe we can just plan it for a set night, or at least a set week or weekend, so that everyone can kind of plan on when it's happening. Then, if we need to change it because a lot of people have conflicts in a particular week or something, we can do so at that time. Does that sound like something everyone would be interested in? A "regular" meet-up time?

For those who are interested, it would be great if you could post a reply letting me know how often you'd like to meet, what day/days of the week work best for you, and what times. Also, please list any dog parks, beaches, or other pet-friendly places that you think would be good places to hold our meet-ups at. If we find one particular park that we like and is central to everyone, we could use that one regularly, or if not, we could travel around to various parks (and other pet-friendly places) in the area, and hopefully no 1 person would always have to be driving a long way that way since SoCal is pretty spread out.

I will keep a list of what everyone says, and we'll try to pick a time that works for everyone, so our Yorkie babies can make some new friends. What do you think?

NO ONE wants to plan a meet-up? Ok. I'll just keep my eyes peeled for if anyone else ever wants to get together. I just figured instead of waiting for someone else to post something, I'd take some initiative. Better luck next time!

I'm in La Habra (North Orange County) - near Whittier, Brea, City of Industry. I'm not sure where Upland is, but I'm sure I could Mapquest it.

We used to live in Upland. Upland is north of the 10 fwy at Euclid--just north of Ontario, and next to Rancho Cucamonga.

Hi! I Mapquested directions to the Upland Dog Park/Baldy View Dog Park (is that the right one - their website http://www.uplanddogpark.com/ says they're located in Upland on 11th Street, between Mountain Ave and San Antonio Ave), and it says it's 25.20 miles from me, so that's completely doable! When do you usually take them to the park?

I totally missed this thread! I would love to meet-up!

I can only meet on Thursdays though, and I have to be back by 4 pm for work...

I don't know of anywhere dog-friendly around here...I'm in Whittier, and I can't travel too far, but anywhere under an hour or so would be worth it.

Once I get all the puppies placed, I can do a playdate but I can't do anything until the middle of July.

Going to Upland on a week night will be tough for me due to traffic coming out of Orange County but I can do a weekend.

It would be nice if we can rotate 2 or 3 locations so it's fair for everyone.

Let's make a list of potential locations and narrow it down to 2 or 3. What do you think?

OH! One more thought! Once we decide on a location, maybe we can put notices at the local groomers and vet offices so people outside of YT will know about it too and grow the group.

OH! That's a great idea!

Have you guys seen this thread?
Park Bench Cafe - Huntington Beach, CA

We're planning a meet-up on Saturday, June 9, at Yorba Regional Park. We haven't figured out a time yet, but post on that thread if you can make it!

Yes! This is what I intended when I originally posted this thread...but no one replied at first ! Another option that my husband suggested is "Dog Beach" for a beach location. I haven't been there, but he tells me it's in Huntington Beach. Here's a link to their website http://www.dogbeach.org/. Has anyone been there? Or does anyone think that's another good option? One thing that's not clear from their website is if you have to pay to get in. They have an option to "Join Huntington Dog Beach", but I don't know if you have to be a "member" to go, or if that's just an option for people who go more frequently?
