| Question for those "in the know" I once heard that there is a name or word to describe a bitch that throws puppies that look exactly like her. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I haven't heard the term used in years and I'm trying to remember it. TIA

| Actually, a "nick" is a puppy that is superior to either parent. Prepotent is properly used for either sire or dam. |

| I was told that a Nick is when athe combination of a certain dog mated to a particular bitch results in offspring that are superior to either of the parents. Prepotent dogs are ones that have a double dose of a particular gene and are therefore likely to pass that trait on to it's offspring.

| answer Thank you Sally... I still have Uk friends who use the term.."a Nick of a stud"...so I am thinking they mean the dog himself and it actually means the results of the breeding. |
