| When are boys ready I kept a boy from my female's last litter to stud out to others. There is a lack of active males in my area. He will be seven months old on August 6, 2007. He is getting very active, with his mom, with the cat, you get the picture. I am trying to determine when he is actually able to start breeding. I don't want him to get hurt or attempt something he shouldn't, but he's trying to anyway on any girly he can find. My vet only says it is more about his physical ability to do the job correctly than his verility. He says he is probably already verile, but he doesn't seem sure. So I thought I would ask the experts... my fellow Yorkie lovers and breeders of the best dogs EVER! So what do you think? Is he ready to go to work? Please advise and thanks! p.s. - Please don't think I'm in a hurry or anything, I waited a full 2 years with my girl and would never do something to hurt one of my babies in any way. He just seems VERY INTERESTED in getting started.

| My vet said the male's sperm is mature at one year old. There are many males that do breed successfully before then. Good luck!!

| I'm no expert myself but I've got a couple of breeder friends and I know for sure that of the males got started before one year of age but that may not apply to every dog. |

| This is similar to another post on here. Answer is still the same. You really want to wait until the stud is fully mature. Reason why - to see how he turned out! Is he worthy of breeding. About 1.5 years is soonest for me. You want to make sure he does not pass on any negatives on to the pups. T. |
