| Pregnancy/Spay question Just a quick question: How long after your dog gives birth do you have to wait to get them spayed?

| I imagine after the puppies are weaned but not sure. I'd call my vet. Best of luck.

| My Lucy gave birth on February 6th... I am having her spayed on May 1st. The vet said I really could have done it sooner...once the milk dried up. I am just having it done before her next heat cycle... the past three cycles she has been going back into heat after only 4 months.... I just want to make sure she gets spayed before she goes back in....

No, it's not that it's been 'bad' it's just that I didn't really want puppies, but it just happened. I'm tired of the 'heats' and having to buy diapers, etc. I'd like to get her spayed before her next heat so this doesn't happen again! I love taking care of them, but it is a lot of work, time and money, that's for sure! And now I've fallen in love with each and every one of them!! Doh! I go back and forth sometimes about keeping one since having 3 dogs is a lot, but I can't see myself NOT keeping one, so yeah, we're keeping one. heh

| Everyday I go back and forth from keeping the only girl or keeping one of the boys. If I had to choose right now, I'd choose the girl. But, I think when more times passes, this could end up being one of those 'puppy choosing me' type things. Deep down, though, I have a feeling we will keep the girl. We are thinking of calling her Bree.

| My vet recommends waiting until the pups have been totally weaned for 2 weeks. I guess just to make sure they are fully able to handle regular food and won't need a "fall-back" plan with mama. |
