| You can give her a teaspoon of Kaopetate twice daily with no harm. Make her some chicken and rice until her stools are firm again. I would give her a bath in a shampoo for itchy skin..many Yorks are allergic to fleas..even one bite can start them scratching like mad. Wash her bedding and vacuum to be sure. Best wishes |

| Kaopectate has indeed been used for many years in the past for puppies but has been re-formulated and should no longer be used in cats and dogs.... WARNING: NEW KAOPECTATE FORMULA UNSAFE FOR DOGS AND CATS From Veterinary medicine Bulletin #4544.1: Those of you who use Kaopectate to control diarrhea, especially in cats, need to be aware of the recent formula change. Due to concerns regarding lead levels in the old formulation the manufacturer of Kaopectate have changed the active ingredient to bismuth subsalicylate. Salicylates (e.g. aspirin, Pepto Bismol and now Kaopectate) should only be administered to cats under veterinary supervision. Some dogs are also sensitive to salicylates. It is no longer safe to use Kaopectate for dogs or for cats at home. For more, go to: www.usp.org/reporting/prnews/dsw - J. Martin DVM |

| I wouldnt worry about a loose stool (pretty normal for new moms) if it gets worse then use as Pat suggests Kaopectate. give 1cc Pet-Tinic per day it will increase your new moms appetite...feed her several small meals a day and make sure she drinks plenty of water. best of luck

| Firm it up by giving her fiber. Dietary fiber absorbs water in the intestine which then helps to decrease diarrhea. Ground flax is a good source. 1/2 teaspoon per 1/2 cup of food. I would add chicken and white rice to her diet as well. |

| Pet - Tinic is a vitamin supplement with Iron (good if they're anemic), B-6 and B-12 (which will stimulate the appetite) hope this helps
