| my female is huge!! Im a new breeder with my first litter due around feb 19. I have been reading and learning all i can for well over a year now... however, my female has a month to go and she is already very large, isnt it too soon for her to be showing? i thought they didnt show until around the 6th week. She goes to the vet tomorrow for a check up and palpatation. She isnt eating a whole lot, i have to hand feed her to get her to eat, but she is so big that if she rolls onto her back its already hard for her to roll back over onto her feet. Im feeling bad for her, she already seems miserable. I would appreciate any feedback you can give... thanks.

| Gosh, I don't know what to tell you here. Trixie didn't start to really look fat, at least as you are explaining it until about 1 or 1 1/2 wks before she delivered so I really don't have anything to compare it to. Maybe it could be because she was small to begin with? I honestly don't know. Hopefullly some of the other vetran breeders will be on soon and they can help you. |

| she was 9lbs before breeding so she isnt small at all, and the male who bred with her is just under 4lbs and my females parents were around 7lbs so the pups shouldnt be too big. I was just curious if this was normal. My vet should give me some info tomorrow, but i wanted to see from my yorkietalk friends if anyone else had a female get so big so early.

| Oh...sorry, for some reason I was thinking this was Gracie you were talking about! Duh, my fault. Honestly, I have not a guess. Perhaps she is retaining some fluid? Hopefully someone else will have a better answer for you soon. Sorry I couldn't help you out. |

| Make sure you have an x-ray done about a week before her due date. This way you can be more confident that she can free whelp (or not, if there is a big pup) and you will know how many pups need to be out when she's done.
