Dog Counting down...

Ok guys...today is DAY 55, I took KiKi to the vet today and she has MILK!! I know ..I know it's not a big deal but it's kinda amazing to me...well her belly is getting bigger and bigger...the vet said she's probably going to be due by next friday, maybe sooner...so I am pretty excited and scare...I mean I really have no experiences in whelping and I have never seen one before....the vet said I can bring her in as soon as the temp drops , but what if it's in the middle of the nite??
So...here I am asking for all you breeders to help me , please!!! anything will help...even though it's common senses...haha..
well so far I have at least 3 vets number for emergency...towels, heating pads...
anyway, help me !!!

Maybe it would help if you could tell us how you have prepared yourself so far for her whelping. I.e, what supplies you've bought, what experience you've had working with other breeders, etc. Then someone will know where to go from there.

I was really hoping that 'zero experience' was not going to be your answer, but since it was I will give you the best advice I can. I would DEFINATELY do whatever I had to do to make sure a vet or an experienced breeder was by your side when she goes into labor. You may have a long tough road ahead of you...have you prepared for that? There are numerous people on this board that have been breeding and studying for years and still have problems with losing the moms during birth. I know it is too late to say this now--and I really hope everything goes OK with her delivery. Out of curiosity, why would you intentionally breed her if you don't have any knowledge whatsoever of how to properly care for her and what to expect? Breeding is not something that should be taken so lightly. You are putting KiKi at great risk by not educating yourself as to what needs to be done to ensure her saftey during this process. I hate to be so blunt, but...

I agree. Candace when you joined back in November, you came here asking for questions about breeding. Then, your question went to look for a stud, then all sorts of pregnancy questions.

You should have read up on all of this BEFORE you even thought about breeding her. Now, she has 9 days left and you don't even know where to start??? There is SOO much info that you need to know and learn. But the only advice I can give you is to get someone that has done this before...even if it's a different toy breed. Just someone that knows what they are doing and keep your emergency numbers on hand.

Best of luck

Sounds like we are going to be having babies soon!!! Does that make all of us aunts? I am sure you will do a fantastic job and I know you have no worries about getting advice. Someone is always awake and ready to help!

well i did do alot of research on this before I bred her and I also talk to at least 3 vets and they all said that KiKi is healthy and saying that breeding her is not a problem, Also, they all recommended me to do C section, I mean, it's not that one day i just wake up and say ok im going to breed her without even thinking what's gonna happen....I mean everyone has their first time, Im sure all the experiences breeder here had their first time...they were new to it before...if I really wasn't concern about her, I wouldn't be here asking for help, rite? I would just set an appointment next week and just let her get a C section ..I don't think anyone who's asking for help here don't care about their dog if they are already looking for help...

I think you missed the point, but that's OK. I am sure from what you've said, you are ready...
Anyway, I would definately have someone experienced on hand. You said she will have a C-section at the vet? That is good. Best of luck to you.

Default ok...

ok, I do know where to start, i think i have to whole process front and back in my head, but I am just nervous ,that's why i am asking for as much help as I could, I arleady read like at least 3 yorkie whelping guides...3 other breed whelping books... seen at least 10 different live birth online, read more then 100 articles on whatever can happen during labor.....talked to as many vets there are in Waco and Temple, 2 other vets in New Jersey, the owner of spoiled rotten yorkies(a good friend of mines) ..but I just want to know more......and As I stated earlier, she's going to be DELIVERED in the vet no matter what, she's going there on Wednesday unless her temp drops earlier, so the vet can monitor her 24 hours.. and just incase of anything too...

so, she is going to have a c-section and your not going to try to free/assisted whelp?

I know that you're going on the advice of your vet but I have to wonder why she is not able to free/assisted whelp.

I know you're nervous. You know how defensive we get here. Let us know how everything turns out.
