Babies due Dec,22nd,need advice I am needing some advice my yorkie is almost 5 weeks along she is not eating very well is this due to her being preg? I had to take her to the vet yesterday and found out she has a Vaginal Infec,I was wandering if that could be the problems also, they had to put her on antibotics too so any advice anyone has will be greatly apprecaited, Thanks Kristi

mom Not eating well at 5 weeks so not a big worry. Can you tell she is pregnant yet? Mix a bit of minced chicken and cotttage cheese if she likes it with her dry food. A pregnant bitch does not need to get huge amounts of food. She needs to eat 2 to 3 small healthy meals.

I know she is because the vet had to do a ultrasound but she is not showing that much her sides are getting bigger but I have notice her eating smaller amounts so that might be the reason I am thinking that she is not eating well because I am used to eating before she got Preg, but I am going to start with the cottage cheese and yogart soon and thanks for all the wonderful replys I am made alot of great friends and wonderful people on here I am going to keep prying for her and the pups and maybe try to calm down and not stress so hard this is her first litter and mine to so we will get through this..and hopefully see some puppies in a month and I will post pics. Thanks again Kristi & Lilli

| My poor little Blossom wouldn't eat hardly at all, she had morning sickness through her whole pregnancy. But I boiled chicken, rice and gave her cottage cheese, and sour cream and a good vitiman supplement...I felt so bad for her. If she has a infection, she could be running a slight fever too, and she just may not feel like eating due to that...

Not eating much now shouldn't be a big issue. Trixie started eating alot just a few days before she delivered and NOTHING for 1 1/2 days before. I would suggest maybe change her food--it may intice her to eat. Trixie welcomed the change when we changed her to puppy food while she was pregnant. Ask your vet about puppy food AND cottage cheese or anything else high in calcium...they need some extra, but not TOO much. Trixie had antibootics to take before and after delivery to prevent any infection...so that sounds about right.

All of the pups were fine (still are). I don't remember the name, I just remember it was a blue pill, 2 times a day. We fed her puppy food before hand and didn't start with the cottage cheese too until after the pups were here...per our vet. We still give it to her now...she is still nursing some, but I think that will stop very soon...the pups love their "real food." We give her a heaping tablespoon at night.
