| What age it too old to breed ? Meet a woman , fr spain and she has a 4 yr old female and is looking to breed her for the 1st time. What is too old to breed a first time female. | I really can not answer this unless it is an obviously old Yorkie...there other factors before age even comes into the picture for me... I would tell her to see a vet and if I had a stud I would decline and wish her the best of luck. |

| As Pat says there are other factors that come into play.....however, I wouldn't breed a female for the first time after the age of 3.....

| I believe it depends on the health of the bitch. I bred my Ch bitch Cammie at the age of 4 and the breeding didnt' take for the first two breedings but at the age of 5 she had her first and last litter of two. As they age, the conception rate is lower. I know a couple of reputable breeders that have bred several bitches for the first time at the age of 4 but as with anyone that breeds it's all about the health and well being of the bitch and health testing ect...
