| Mrs. Laynee is expecting this will be her first litter...she bred in september and is due end of november. went to vet today and he felt a few lumps,,,said she's about 4 weeks along. lately she has been quite clingy. and when i say clingy i mean i can't even take a bath alone because she wants to lay on my chest. really not hungry. wont eat her puppy food and picks at wet food. i asked vet but i need more ideas on how to get her to eat. ive tried everything but she just turns away. i had him do bloodwork and everything checks out fine but i'm still worried. she's my baby and now she's having babies... any ideas? |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | First of all congratulations, I have my girl pregnant with her first litter too.. she is a silkie terrier, we are expecting thanksgiving babies, she is not a picky eater but at the begining of her pregnancy she got morning sickness and would not eat, the vet told me to mix a bit of plain yogurt with her kibble and also give her 3 or 4 small meals thru the day. Just yesterday I started adding a boiled egg to her meals, I smashed the egg with a fork and mixed it with her kibble and a bit of wet food and she ate like a starving dog.. you might want to try that too.. best of luck with your baby.. |

| Glad you found something she likes to eat... you could probably add it to her dry food eventually. Good luck!

| Re: :( well it was back to the vet today. after feeding her that food she spent the night wretching...and this morning i let her off the bed and she threw up. i put her in her crate...she threw up. i called vet and he said bring her in. she threw up on the way there. he did a crapload of bloodwork, multiple testing on her organs, liver kidneys, thyroid, etc. all came back normal. so he put her on some reglan and another med and gave her an injection to settle her tummy. as well and IV fluids. i gave her some gerber baby food (chicken and gravy) and she took half the jar. and gave her some wet puppy food and she ate that too. i just pray she keeps it down. the pups are just now starting to move around and its making her sick. doc said worse case scenario if she keeps getting sick, he will consider a "spay-abort". and thats only IF the pups are doing all this to her. i'm sad. she has great genetics and all her DNA testing was perfect. so i dnt know what is going on with her. hopefully her appetite picks up shortly. please send her and i prayers??? i am more worried about her than her babies. babies are replacable...she isn't |

| I pray your little girl will be okay. Most likely she is just sick from eating a different food that she was not use to. You have to use a lot of caution with these little ones when it comes to diet. It is not that unusual for a expectant momma to go off her food but most of the time they will start eating again. In my 13 years of raising yorkies I have never had a expectant momma that was a picky eater that required any special food. She needs a good basic kibble and from there you can add a few things to entice her, like cottage cheese, hard boiled or scrambled eggs, a little boiled chicken and rice, etc. On occasion I will have one do a little vomiting and dry heaves so I will just give them a little karo syrup and water to settle their stomach. One canned food that all of mine like is the canned Pedigree Healthy Digestion, it contains chicken and brown rice. I always avoid any dog foods with beef in them because that always seems to make mine sick. I know you are worried about your girl. Around 28 days is a critical period in a dogs pregnancy. It is during this period that she could possibly absorb her pups. Under nutrition and over nutrition can both cause birth defects and problems for the unborn fetus. Birth Defects in Dogs. Please keep us updated on how she is doing. |

| well...... my girl is finally putting on some weight and she is definately showing...we are gonna make an appt for an ultrasound this week. her appetite is a little better, although she gets hungry only when the kids and i are sleeping at night and early mornings. refuses all the good food i bought. she has turned into quite the DIVA! homemade chicken, stew meat, rice and veggies,...but at least she's eating. i still give her nutrical every morning and all seems well. so i will definately keep yall updated...i'm excited to see how many babies i'm gonna have. gonna be hard not to keep them all |

| Update!!!! SO....little old me had to be anal about my girl. decided to have her checked AGAIN at the vet today to see how things are coming along...her appetite is back to normal FINALLY!!! and i asked for him to do an x-ray. the doc agreed and he thought she was further along than she actually is. according to x-ray she's 5 weeks along. and too early to detect anything major. he could only see slight images of 2 heads...but he "guesstimated" there are 3...but i'm thinking 2 is the lucky number he said he could see slight images of 2 spinal cords. so i'm praying all goes well. good thing was her pelvis looks perfect on x-ray so he thinks she will do fine. so question...when exactly should i start expecting my babies to be born??? mrs.
