| Yorkie Litter Size I have no idea about breeding, but was just wondering if anyone knew the average size of Yorkie litters? Thanks!

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I've heard that the average size is 2-3 pups or is it 3-4? I can't remember the exact number. I've heard of yorkies giving birth to 8 and as low as 1.

| Yes, someone told me as many as 8 and as few as 1. But I think a lot depends on the size of your dog. I wouldn't expect my 3.5# female to have more than 3. I guess she could have 4 but if she had 3 I'd consider myself lucky. My 5# girl came from a litter of 7 and I don't remember correctly but I think her mother was about 6+#. Her mother also had a litter of 4 so I am thinking that my baby comes from a good producing line. I have bred her to a male who along with 2 steady girlfriends has produced 5 puppies from a 3.5# female. Sylvia |

| # in a Litter My Lulu has had one litter of 3 puppies, the other two she had 4 puppies. A friend of mine, her dog has had 6. I also have seen as little as 1. I think I confused you. Sorry if I did....

| I think the average is anywhere from 2 - 5. Our litters usually run 3 - 5 with four or five pups being the average. I'm not sure what the smaller gals would throw, as all of our breeding females are 6 lbs or more. Ash
