My females in heat...is she ready I have a female in heat, I am taking her to the stud on Saturday. HOWEVER, I may be off by three day on her cycle. I first noticed her cycle last Friday but I had been out of town for 3 days before. So I not sure about when it began. Well tonight my other female mounted her. I have never seen them do that before. I am a new breeder and I work closely with the breeder of my stud. She has many years under her belt and she mentors me with breeding. I have not talked with her about this but I thought I would try here on yorkietalk. I know females will do dominance mounting but this was different. She was really going after her, panting and mounting. Sorry for so graphic but thats really the only way to describe it. Feverishly mounting her.Bella has never done this before, Could Shyloh be ready now?

I found a older thread about this...It was very informative. I'm on my way in the morning to have Shyloh checked.

Your females humping is not necessarily a sign that she is ready. My females do that a lot from the onset of their heat cycle. Some even do it right before they come in heat. I think the flagging of the tail is a better indication. Also the bleeding will stop and just be a pinkish color. It never hurts to introduce the male and female around the 9th day of the heat cycle because sometimes it is easy to miss the first couple of days. Best of luck to you.
