| Help! well...i have 6 puppies that recently turned 9 weeks old. I already have lots of inquires about them..most of them wanted them to give them as present for the holidays, but they were too young to go, I've created a website with pictures and clips updated each week, I also have a questionnaire to learn more about the interests I get. but a lot of people could lie also and not completely honest. so, I need some advice on what to look for, and how to spot and honest person and someone dishonest. I just do not want my puppies to end up in a place where they will be beaten and abused, or some place where the people will have to give them up and end up in shelters, I know that's kinda out of my reach, but I want to try to do the best I can and place them with honest and caring families. |

| I wouldn't really have any idea on how to really tell except your gut instinct...., but there are alot of good breeders here that may be able to give you an idea about what to look for or questions to ask. I just wanted to say Congrats on your puppies and I hope they all find wonderful homes.

| You need to get vet references and check them out. You can find out a lot about how someone would care for your puppies from their vet. |

| I ask for three references of people that are not related to the adopter and who have known them for at least three years. I also get the name and number of their veterinary and contact them with a list of questions. If the vet tells me they can't release the information then I contact the adopter and request that they give a release of information to the vet. I then call the vet back usually the next day, if still no information then no adoption. I also ask alot of questions of the people that I contact as references and if they seem iffy I will ask them straight out what their honest feelings are. I have a list of questions that I ask the adopter also with one of the main questions being have they ever given a pet up to a shelter or rescue? If so why, when and what rescue or shelter. If it has been resently done I contact that shelter of rescue and ask questions, you'd be surprised what you can learn about a persons care of their animals. Also ask about kids, how old, have they ever been around small dogs, will the puppy be left unsupervised with the children? If you want to email me at littletsyorkshires@littletsyorkshires.com I will be happy to give you a list of questions I ask. I hope this helps you out.
