We have ben feeding ground up kibble with water and trading off to wet food since 3 weeks. But when can they eat kibble as kibble. One of the little ones tries to go to mommys bowl and eat hers but we have not aloud it yet. Please let me know when its a good time. Thanks for your help.

| Do your puppies have teeth yet? How big is the mommys kibble? Mine start eating Chicken soup Puppy at 5 weeks old but I mix and soften it with canned at that age. By eight weeks they can eat dry kibble without it being softened.

♥My Lil' Monkey Girl♥ Donating Member | I actually have them all on the Chicken soup...LOL for the puppies i grind it up and add water or i give them the chicken soup wet food. they do have teeth now. so then is it okay to start adding a little kibble to the wet food? then full kibble at 8 weeks?

| I go from feeding a mush of soaked kibble to dry around 6 to 7 weeks. I usually give them a meal of the soaked kibble once a day while I'm getting them on the dry in case any one isn't getting enough of the dry. There's always one that eats slower and may not get their share. If I notice one isn't getting enough, I'll pull that one and feed it a little more by itself. Also, when you start feeding them dry, make sure to keep an eye on them at first to make sure no one chokes on it. Sometimes they'll try to swallow it before chewing it up enough. And keep a shallow bowl of water down for them. Good luck and just keep an eye on them. When they quit nursing is often when one may show a drop-off if it isn't getting enough. |
